Hey Guys,

Recently acquired a VAG 1.8T with an ME7.5  06A906032PS. I don't have WinOLS, but can fumble my way through TunerProRT. A generic VAG-com FTDI cable on order, I've DL'd HS Map pack .xdf for the 06A906032HS as well as a few .bins so I can start familiarizing myself with the system. DL'd the NefMoto ECU flasher, and ME7sum. The german acronyms for table/scalar names is intimidating but with the help of the forum and the S4 wiki the basic controls and procedures appear to be readily available.

I am a gearhead and engines enthusiast. I'm not a computer guy or coder, so unfortunately alot of the resources available here tend to speak over my head. I do have previous Motronic M3.3 experience and have made my own .xdf for the BMW v8 DME's by pulling apart the table axis header information in the hex code.  ME7.5 is a completely different creature. My immediate tuning goal for this VAG application is to disable emissions (EVAP/N80, N249, SAI/N112) as well as figure out how to prevent overboost/underboost,limp mode.

My first question: In idiots terms, how do I work the ME7sum?

Thanks!

Hello, me7sum needs to open in Terminal so you choose your Folder where your me7 sum is after that you copy your file in what you need to sum and then comes the magic part command is like me7sum.exe yourfilename newfilename press enter and you got your corrected file always double check it alsmost same with me7check.exe yourfilename and enter

The file must be in the same folder as the corrections tool or you need to setup the Path in the windows settings easy way if you do not understand how set the file in the same folder as your correction tool …

The tool has the name „me7sum.exe“ and „me7check.exe“ in that folder you copy your binary file and then open your terminal with shift right click -> Open Terminal here or so its called Smiley then the steps i wrote before

Here's an interesting phenomena:

If I modify and save a .bin. Run that .bin through Me7Sum,  I get a new checksum updated .bin with a new name. If I run the original mod .bin through Me7Sum again, I get a third file that is checksum updated. However if I compare the 2nd and 3rd .bin's to each other they are totally different with several bytes difference between them, If I run the same file through Me7Sum multiple times shouldn't the outcome be the same everytime?

I recently fixed a bug in me7sum. Which version are you using?

I don't see a version ID on Me7Sum, but it's the EXE file download from this thread:

I thought I could be sneaky and get around the checksum by setting CW_NOROMCHKRESET from 00 to 55.

I now have a bricked ecu, lol. Now I get to educate myself on boot mode and ground pin. :-)

Turns out not bricked, I just need to unplug battery after a flash and then it's fine.... This is a learning curve, thanks for bearing with me.

Is there a table or scalar for turbo elec water pump run time and/or temperature? It seems this thing is always running with the key off, afraid of unnecessary battery drain.
