I melted a piston once, but it was my head gasket that was blown.  There were a LOT of signs before it happened.  I had a demanding job and couldn’t get the time to fix it.  And being too cheap didn’t help.  Can’t imagine what you or your buddy’s car was running like before y’all melted a piston.  I would’ve thought there would’ve been signs.  Oh you’ll probably find the head is also melted.  You should upload some pics so we can all go wow.

Hi guys,
Friend of mine recently melted a piston and spark plug broke inside cylinder 2.

A4 B5 1.8T T3 T4 Hybrid, Forged Rods, 3" downpipe, External Wastegate..

He is furious (obviously) and he is blaming the map someone did for him. Are you able to check if this can happen by the map attached?
I am really curious and looking for expert opinion on this as I don't think this can happen from the map below attached...

If it's not needed of such post please delete...

Thanks

you want an expert opinion, a tune alone will not melt a spark plug, when you tune you should use different spark plugs as the have different heat ranges, you would want to stay away from iridium plugs pending the type of tune, me myself im not used to flashing, im old school from carbs to soldering sockets to ecu boards and even when running carbs we used different plugs with different  heat ranges, if your tuned and you run to hot of a plug yes you will destroy your piston/s.
