Before I go too far down a rabbit hole, I'd very much appreciate it if someone knowledgeable were able to advise on the following:
1) Is it possible to determine from an ME7.1 bin which physical pins are assigned as ignition triggers?
2) If so, could someone help me in doing so for a 24V AUE VR6 engine? This post seems to contain a factory bin:
http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=8741.msg79275#msg79275For context, I'm looking to change this engine from a unitary coil pack (3 triggers, wasted spark) over to coil-on-plug (CoP) as used by later 24V VR6s (BDE, etc.) - since the trigger signal doesn't carry enough current to drive two CoPs in wasted spark, I'd like to know if the ECU happens to contain the capacity for redundant trigger signals on other pins. Ideally without needing to change the software, but I'm open to learning how to do that if they could be enabled.
Unfortunately I have no documentation for the AUE engine, but my understanding of the ME7.1/ME7.1.1 ECUs used across the CoP 24V VR6s is that pins for each of the 6 coils are present and assigned as follows:
CoP 1 Trigger - Pin 102
CoP 2 Trigger - Pin 110
CoP 3 Trigger - Pin 94
CoP 4 Trigger - Pin 111
CoP 5 Trigger - Pin 103
CoP 6 Trigger - Pin 95
Any advice appreciated!
