Well today i finally managed to sort out a bench harness to try and read my ECU.

Regulated bench supply, 13.8V with 1A current limit set.

I used pin 62 as the ignition live, pin 43 Kline pin 3 as the permanent live and pin 1 as the ground.

I think I am getting it into boot mode, as if i don't ground pin24 of the 400BB flash, Galletto says boot mode not active.  If i do put it in boot mode, it says reading ECU, waits about 40s then gives me a read error, code 200000.  Have I got pins 62 and 3 the right way round?  I think I must as i'm getting it into boot mode i think.

Any ideas?

Here is how my bench harness is setup:
Pin 1 ground
Pin 2 ground
Pin 3 switched ignition 12v from terminal 15
Pin 43 k-line
Pin 62 constant 12v battery power from terminal 30

I will switch pin 3 and 62, but i think i'm getting boot mode.

I only used one of the ground pins, assumed they were both common points?

Both grounds should be connected.

Are you grounding a pin on the ECU circuit board to trigger boot mode?

Both grounds are not needed. Neither is the the pin 21 as shown in photos here. It works fine at least with the 551D box.
