So I am back again. My audi is sold and now time for new project. Audi had GT2860RS original. Was decent, but this time i would like to have something bigger.
New car is VW Golf4 4 motion 1.8T 6  speed . I myself was thinking 3076 or bigger or some chinese turbo with name. All suggestions are appriciated.
My goal is 500ish hp.

garrett figures are not for pump gas

you have to substract 100hp if you run good pump gas

660 --> 560 real hp

G25 are amazing turbos work very well on 1.8L but like other said they are lil bit overrated.

Also you would be surprised at some of the holsets (combinations), specially in twinscroll you can get ridicolous boost at g25 spool levels.
Obviously the transient response is not for track but yeah.

BW s200sxe the smaller variant is also a good option for budget builds and crazy power.

Really your choice all comes down to your target and budget and hardware limitations such as oil cooled only or water too etc, all setup dependant.

Now as for OP, do not get the 3076 its not the best match, 3067 maybe, but really a 2867 but you need to custom build that iirc

Thanks for answers. Will look into these turbos. I think acceptable full boost would be at ~ 4-5k rpm. As i have tested already 2860rs ( which is very good turbo ), this time i would like to have more play room.
Doing research early. Just finished conversion with k03. But in Europe its kinda impossible to log on the road right now, we have big snow storms .

4k rpm 500hp forget it, if not running exotic fuel.
Above 4.5k for sure, and you need full launch control and flatshift.
You also need to build the valvetrain, so you can rev to 8k, else there isn't enough room for 1->2 shift.
Not to mention the complete lack of transient response.

1.8T 500hp is only useful for drag race. If you have to "log it on the road" then you won't even be able to tune it correctly.
Dyno is needed to load it properly at low rpm and test with long enough pulls.

On the road every remapped 300hp 3.0 TDI will be faster than you in 95% of situations.

Sure, but if you got a big turbo 1.8T you will be/ or want to be in your powerband when the 3.0TDI is in power too, you wouldnt be racing it sub 4k-5k.
If you driving it in cruise then yes obviously there is no replacement for displacement and diesel, what he means.
But a 500 HP 1.8T will destroy the stage 1/2 3.0 in the powerband obviously.

That said for my next project I want to go big turbo 3.0TDI v6 or M57 too , try something new. The MPG is not comparable obviously(that said with 3L tax you come out the same / year here Smiley) )

So you want to sit at every light in full launch control?
I want to see that.

Also, no, it's not just power band.
If you just floor it at 5000 it will take ages to spool still.

So you need rolling antilag etc.

I don't see any point in this.
Only if you have some class of drag race where you are limited on engine size.
Building this for street is dumb. I mean 30BTD with remap makes over 400 hp and shifts every shift perfect.
And those cars already cost below 20k at this point.

It's not 2005 anymore.

1.8T is pretty decent up to 400hp, especially with DSG. Everything after that is an excercise in futility imo, unless you are making a dragster or a dyno queen. It is undrivable in other situations.

2.0 stroked with k04064 and dsg gives you much more emotions in city driving than 1.8t with BT and manuelle )

Holsets are diesel turboes. Theyre gives you boost but not flow and especially response with hx30+ models
The only reason to fit them is a budget

Okey boys. My point is, I want the feeling where boost comes and i feel it. Something like here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHIBBnKzX4A . With 2860rs I did not get this emotion. Most of the time I drive with high rpms . I understand it is not 2005 anymore, wheres the 1.8T is only best engine, but its cheap, its cheap to tune and it gives some nice emotions and when it brakes, there is nothing to cry about.
If i bought for example ford focus RS for tuning purpose, hell lot of money to build + not so much proft from stock hp wise. And when it makes boom, it will be kinda sad. ( This car is only a example ).  Maybe I have not found the "right another one", thats why i chose 1.8t .
Also its nice to play with ME7. And diesels I hate, whatever power they make, its diesel.
