It's a pretty annoying job. Scaling part that is.
I did it once a long time ago and then always used the same file ever since, and only did small adjustments with emulator.
It was enough for 350-360hp, and I never tried to make more power on this old ECU.

I used the MAF from R32 BFH/Phaeton:
07C906461 or 07C906461X
And I used the 440cc Green Giant injectors:
0280155968
Also a 4 bar FPR if your car comes with 3 bar (and of course you must upgrade fuel pump):
078133534C
Buy all parts from good local vendor, avoid eBay and aliexpress because a lot of fake china crap that does not work right.

The MAF is a HFM5, but M3.8.3 uses a HFM2.
There is some difference in pinout, and HFM5 needs a 5V reference voltage.
The reference voltage you can just "steal" from the cam sensor. And you will need a HFM5 connector, grommet, and 4 pins (+12V, GND, +5V, Signal).
You don't need to connect the integrated IAT.
Datasheets with pinouts:
HFM2: https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/69647.pdf
HFM5: https://members.rennlist.com/jandreas/Bosch%20HFM5%20Sensors.pdf

Table:
Code:
HFM5 - HFM2
   1 - N/C
   2 - 4
   3 - 2
4 - Connect to this pin on HFM5 the 5V from cam sensor.
   5 - 3

After that, I changed for scaling:
FGAT0
MLST
MLHFM
KLWF
KFMLDMX
KFLF
Cold start cranking map. IDK the name found in ASM.
TVUB
KFBAKL
KFVAKL
ABAKN
FBAWN
FVAWN

Or if you want you can also buy the scaled base file. I'm not going to post that thing for free, sorry.

Thank you for all this.250-260 crank hp is enough for me.Im looked on forums about some peoples use VR6 MAF housing(76mm) with stock AEB sensor and for scaling using vr6 2.9 map. This way does decide MAF problem ?

I've done quite a few using the mk3 vr6 maf without a problem. Last one I did was 440 greens ko4 hybrid and vr6 maf

The VR6 HFM2 MAF also works, but the R32 one has a larger reading range IIRC, hence why I used it.
The VR6 HFM2 one maxed out before the injectors did for me.

And because it's a nightmare to scale everything (accel enrichment, cold start in colder climates), I did it only one time as a max combo with injectors + MAF and always used the same thing ever since.
As a bonus, if someone copied the software without looking it would have been completely useless to them Smiley

Man, this file you mention is gold. I thought it had never been done. How much would you ask for it knowing it is for learning purposes and that definetly I'll have questions? hahah Wink If you don't want to give prices here PM me!

I am about to finish my own first personal tune with this ecu but have in mind to install and run an s3 turbo when the tiny stock k03 runs out of juice, and I'll want to scale for bigger maf and injectors for more power.

Thank you for posting the scaled maps. It is a good hint to start with it.

Kind regards

I'm probably not going to sell it, because I don't want to deal with the questions... I don't have time.

Well, if the price is right I can keep my mouth shut lol  Lips sealed  Roll Eyes

I'm a good detective, I've come a long way in a year of learning to tune my oem ecu, and having a reference of such a good work would be really helpful. If you still wanna talk...  Wink

Kind regards,

Hi prj, sorry to ask again about it, but i'm really interested in the correctly scaled file. Is there a chance we can speak about it for a second? PM me if you want, I promise I'll not bother you much about it.

Thanks man! Smiley

It's not that hard, buying a solution from someone that you will still need to fine tune will still need work. If you have no Idea what you are doing clearly you will have questions and He doesn't want to deal with it. For christ sakes is it really that hard to copy every other cell to go from 512x1 to 256x1?

Hey, if you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything.

As I have stated in this same post, I am learning to tune. I decided to do so before paying a random company to copy paste whatever trash file they had in stock.

As i have stated in other subforums and by trying to give something back by posting my discoveries and big lists of information on how Motronic 3.8 works, i have come a long way during the last year. From not knowing what tuning was at all, up to having opened an ecu, desoldered a PLC44 and soldered a socket myself, getting started with WinOLS from zero, purchasing and learning to operate an eeprom programmer, defining my maps in my own file from learning to look up for the maps myself, getting to know which maps make what more or less, being able to burn myself a file to get my 150hp car to 180hp by searching the correct maps from another OEM file and applying changes to mine. Now I am about to make a wideband conversion to my car even with the M3.8 ecu and start making my own file while documenting all this long ass process. And even I am switching from M3.8.2 to M3.8.3 to bench and in-car flashing with MPPS, which by the way I purchased a good working clone and I will make a guide on this forum on how to buy a good clone, because there is a way to distinguish a bad clone from a good one.

So, if my end objective is to go a bit big with an S3 turbo and knowing I will need to rescale stuff in the future, if somebody mentions they have a file correctly upscaled, it is of my interest to ask about it. I do not even want a complete working file, just the essential information needed to have a look, try to understand by myself what actually rescaling means, because I suspect it's not going to be the same for all maps, and see what do I need to rescale. And if the creator does not want to answer questions, I will ask somebody else and not annoy him.

If you think I've come to this forum to ask for free or cheap stuff alredy done for me, you are very wrong mate. I must not know a ton of stuff, but I'm willing to keep learning, ask, and try to give back something useful to everybody.

Hey, if you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything.
First off, Ill say whatever the fuck I want on whatever thead I see fit, he said he didnt want to sell it and you continue to beg someone to sell their work...? All I did was sum that up and point out its not that hard to transfer a map curve.

I decided to do so before paying a random company to copy paste whatever trash file they had in stock.
Yet begs for member to sell their work.... yep and as for the rest who cares

Cool story bro, you come up with that all on your own? Oh, and you're a pathetic loser who needs to beg form members to sell their work because your are too stupid to figure it out on your own. Now that's the truth.
