I need to change the softcoding of 2005 B6 A4 Avant Quattro from auto to manual (swap done).
Does the ECU require a login code? If so, what is used?
For the softcode, there is no pulldown/popup window in VAGcom. Current softcode is 0016751. Can the correct softcode for MANUAL be deducted from the AUTO softcode (assuming that just one digit changes)?

If a login is required but not a fixed on, how can I generate/obtain the login?

Replace 5 with a 1 so 0016711

Just make sure the tcu is not unplugged otherwise it won't accept coding for manual. Tcu would be located under the ECU  and no login code required

Understood. Have TCU, gear selector and even auto shifter box plugged in and finally managed to get the ABS module codes and the instrument cluster. With those coded to manual but NOT the ECU, car ran like crap (bunnyhopping like mad under load; idle fine).

ECU softcoding is stored in the EEPROM. If you are not able to get the ECU softcoding with VCDS due to login issues, you can download (nefmoto) and edit the EEPROM .bin file directly (tunerpro), checksum correct it then re-flash it back to EEPROM in boot mode using a bench harness (not via OBDII port), no login needed. The EEPROM .bin also contains the SKC if you ever need that available for VCDS login.
