Hi

Im converting my VW 1.8T AGU me3.8.2 to the later ME7.5 management and I was wondering what ecu is best to go for in terms of tuning.  A few people have said they are all the same, but is there any part numbers out there for me7.5 that give better options when mapping?

I just want the buy the better ECU to begin with and not something thats not as good as another.

From my experience, the BAM from the s3 or TT are the best. Main reason is there are complete winols files and xdf's . But as said any me7.5 will do. The 06a906032hn and HJ are just as good you a little work you can flash BAM files onto hem and can be picked up for 1/2 the cost of the BAM . If you go for the HJ then there's the multimap switching file on here as well

Thanks for the reply.

The map switching sounds like something good. I was planning on running the exhaust gas temps through the ecu anyhow and heard the BAM maps can easily be put onto them.

How does the map switching work?  Does it take over from the cruise control?

Any PCB version will work, best one which will allow you to run any map combination will be the  1 268 318734-9  3.2WH found in the AMK & BAM engines.

How you mean by any map combination nick?  Is that 2 maps for say cruising and one for 'race mode'?

Ill just get a AMK ECU and be done. Smiley

Hi ,

Do you then simply need to wire in the EGT sensor to the HN/HJ ecu ? ?

Hi friend do you have some updates in your ECU upgrade idea? Do you use the DBC or DBW throttle body? How do you adapt the M7.5 to the sensors?
I was thinking in the same idea in the past. I think that Audi do that in the past with some A3 models. In my country I found some 8L Audi A3 models years up to 2005 with old AGU engine but with Motronic ME7.5 Ecu. Then it should be possible.

Any WIDEBAND ecu, Ones out of AUM TT's seem to get preference.

I understand your idea, but what about the throttle body and VVT solenoid? Wideband O2 sensor can be connected easily but I think that DBW throttle body and VVT solenoid are immerse in the ME7.5 programming, do you understand me?

At the moment i think APX or BAM Ecu/Software are the best ones. But im a starter and theses are just my 2 cents...

APX:
- SAI
- no VVT
- no EGT
- only one O2 Sensor

BAM:
- SAI
- VVT
- EGT
- 2 O2 Sensors
- Ecu is using the EGT Signal

Im running a AGU with K04 at the moment and looking forward to upgrade to Me7.5 too

But APX one uses electric throttle body? is it wideband?

okay good hint...

Apx is indeed narrowband.

BAM/AMK allways has electric throttle body

What about APY?

There is no drive by cable ME7 AFAIK. Not on any production cars at least.
The entire torque model would be completely useless then, and that's the heart of ME7.

I think that exist some cars around there that comes from factory with ME7, wide or narrow band O2 sensors, VVT or non-VVT but with DBC throttle body.  Those ECUs would be the best options for the upgrade.

And I think you are wrong. Any ME7 factory car is going to have a DBW throttle.
If it has a DBC throttle then it will me M5.x or M3.x.
