Before I go into detail about my terrible problem with my EDC16C8 control unit, I’d like to ask the group if anyone is familiar with the EEPROM 95160 file and, for example, the AM29BL802CB and MPC556.

Most people here are talking about the M7... and a search turned up only a single post regarding the EDC16C8.

great ... I set the 95160 EEPROM file to "virgin"—or at least I thought I did. To give you the full picture, I purchased my data set for the Alfa 156 from a healthy donor vehicle at ecufile and analyzed the EEPROM enough to find the transponder codes and roll codes and set them on 00. After re-installing the ecu, the transponder/immobilizer didn’t pair immediately, not even after 90 seconds in the MAR position waiting and 30 seconds with the ignition off.

Only after turning the key to the MAR position for the third time did the keycode symbol disappear, but error code P0601 was permanently stored (and cannot be cleared).

The engine starts without any issues, and the car drives fine, even though the IMA codes for the injectors cannot be programmed due to the permanent P0601 error. And i want to have correct IMA codes in that ecu.

My questions are:
a) What could have caused the handshake error?
b) What is the best course of action now? Should I reset to "virgin" again, or just reset the roll codes to "virgin"?
