Try to remove the headunit fuse or remove the whole headunit.

I know this could be a problem with mpps flasher. Maybe its the same problem with nefmoto software.

The other way would be to bypass all other k-lines in the car.

A friend of mine has the original ross tech cable, maybe with this it works. I'll Post if it works.

The solution is to run direct K-line to ECU! If you can not do this, bench flash.

Ok, but how Do i connect k-line direct?

There is a single wire a lot of the modules in the car use to communicate. It's referred to as the K-line. This wire goes from the ecu to the instrument cluster, then out on another wire to the OBD port. In some cases when you have communication issues, running a line directly from the ecu to the OBD port allows clean communication. Some have built relays to switch between the factory wiring, and their direct k-line with a remote switch. You basically want a single uninterrupted, (not tapped into line) going from your cable (OBD port) to the ecu. You can find the k-line and cut it between the ecu and the instrument cluster, and tap into only the ecu side. After you're done reading/writing, you want to reconnect it the way it was originally. Hope this helps!

I'm guessing he did what prj said, bypass the k-line or bootmode the ECU.

My MY2002 Jetta had nothing but issues reading and writing until I bypassed the k-line. I installed a double pole, double throw switch above the fuse box. When I want to read or flash I flip the switch to bypass the cluster, radio, etc. Its never failed to work since then. I really believe that it was my cluster interrupting communication as I would get random 'security access not granted' (and associated failed reads/writes).

Here is a link to how I did it if you are interested: http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=6679.msg70602#msg70602

I'm not saying this is the correct thing to do. Just what I did after reading advice here to try a k-line bypass...

Have you done this process with the doors closed?

It will always cut connection when reading a file if vehicles doors are open. Doors closed and at around 10% after reading it will lock the doors. I have done a succesful read from the same engine.
