sold an ecu to a canadian. his ecu is 40b0906018ch, same as us spec.
however, his ecu plug appears to be me7.1 style and the ecu i sent him wont plug in.
he ended up breaking off the little plastic piece. says it runs fine but the tach doesnt work and the oil level/pressure light is on.

anyone know whats up? because i dont.

Non-immo a6's have the bottom plug, while immo equipped cars have the top plug. I would think it's something similar.

hmm. bottom one is an 018cm (flashed to 018ch) from a b5.5 passat. should have immo.
id go rip the 018ch out of my b5 to know for sure but i dont have it here with me.

edit again. yep, all the me7 i have here are like the top. now im thoroughly confused why the bottom is the way it is.
and when i made that post i looked at the top wrong. i didnt see the ridge. so its obviously 7.5. meh. lol.  Roll Eyes

It could also differentiate the changeover to can-bus instrumentation.

I flashed a A6 for a friend.
He had a spare ECU so I used that.
Turns out it would not fit my bench harness. I had to break off the tabs.
My harness is from a Canadian B6.
I didn't think much of it.
I flashed the S4 file onto the A6 ECU and he is running it now.
Everything seems fine except he has a secondary air pump DTC.
I have to check it on the weekend.
Not sure if its related to the ECU or not.

I might swap it over and see if it is actually the pump or the ECU swap.

But other than that no other odd issues like mentioned above.

I will have a good look and report back to see if there is any similarities.

Hey Kompresd.

I took a look at that A6 today.

Everything was fine with it except a SAI solenoid DTC.
It had the tabs broken on the ECU like the one you mentioned but there were no issues to be found from it.

Hope this helps you track the issue down.

It could also differentiate the changeover to can-bus instrumentation.

This could be it, it would explain the oil light since the dual sensor uses different pins on the body plugs. Tach not working is odd, but I swear I read about someone having the same problem when swapping from M5.x to ME7.

well, to update this: customer sent me a message and told me there was a bent pin on the ecu connector. said he must have done it when he broke the clip. after repairing that, all problems were cleared up.
