just curious if its possible to Flash a 2003 audi 1.8T Sport 170hp with a factory tune from a 2003 Audi 1.8T Sline 190 hp?

i believe they have the same turbos same everything mechanically but differnt trim options.
Whats the worst that can happen if i try it? besides not starting..

could be an easy way for those to gain 20 ponys in 5 min!

I am not sure if that is possible only because the only reason why the 190 makes that power is because of the trim of the turbo.I'm not saying thats the case, but its a possibility.I think the best thing to do is compare the 2 files see if the maps are in the same spot.If they are, then thats a plus. Then you just have to look and see if theres any difference in the maps.

P.S I'm in the same dilema as you. I have a Abox S4 ecu and a tuned file for a Mbox ecu.I am still looking into wether I can reflash my abox to mbox without bricking the ecu or killing my car.

Hey I just tried looking up the specs for the 2003 sline. It seems as all the a4 in the states were 170hp versions I dont see a 190hp listed anywhere.I believe The UK got the 190hp engine and europe as far as I know.

What year are the cars? Note that if you flash an us version in a european car will need to disable the sai system

Vws 1.8t 2002+ are compatable, but I don't know about a4s. if you want to be safe modify your file, you should get at least 205hp with 91 octane from a k03s

If the ECU hardware is the same, it should not brick your ECU. If the hardware is different, then it may or may not brick your ECU.

well the US spec HW number is= 8E0909518AF
the File id like to flash into the US ecu is=8E0909518AS which is of the same year European S-line.

is this going to be safe?

well to answer my own question i went ahead and tried it.Unfortunatly a 2003 Euro 190hp A4 1.8T_S-Line file will not work in a USA Spec 2003 1.8T Sport. Car would not start. so dont try it. Fortunatly Tonys beta flashed both files perfectly with no problems.THE FIRST TIME! I was able to reflash the original stock file back to the ecu and the car started right up. So there is no Easy solution with a factory file yet, that i can see this far. I am just starting with the audi ecu's and hese are much different then the dsm ecu's i am good at modding. i will look for other originals perhaps he 2004 audi 1.8 S-line(USA) but im not sure if it has more hp then a 1.8T Sport, or Base. anyone know?

Spen is working on dissassembly or a definition file i forget which for this ecu, 7.5 ecus are a bit different then the 7.1. I will generate a couple tunes, and post them in the near future. i will dyno these tunes as well.as well as datalog the results.

Regarding the no-start, does the later file require a different instrument cluster coding?

Did you check the error codes when the car would not start? They may have given you an idea of what the issue was.
