Hello all,
Here's my question: I have a 032HS and a 032LP ECU. With some experimenting I found I can flash one with the other only IF I also flash the immo chip with the corresponding immo dump. i.e LP flash + LP immo dump onto LP hardware works. It wouldn't without the immo dump.
How can I retain the original VIN when changing immo flashes? I want to flash a LP flash onto a HS ECU which requires the LP immo, BUT retain my HS VIN (defeated or not I want my VIN to show on the ECU).
Thanks, Rey

You don't need to change the EEPROM.................................... at all...

not my experience. i cant say its need 100% of the time, but the handful of ecus i've toyed with it has been the case. However I've been playing with 2.0L ecus mostly. HS /LP was an example I used. But FP/LP is the typical situation I've seen. Also MC/LP.
Regardless of reason, I would still like an answer to me question.
Thanks, Rey

Doesn't that checksum corrector just apply the fixes for standard immo-off mods rather than actually calculating them?

can someone explain how flash and eeprom interact to eachother?
elRey, do both ecus have the same bosch hardware number or can you go into detail what doesnt work?

Did this fix your issues? Does your car now show your original VIN, and you also have no issue with immo? Immo is checked in 3 places, the .bin, the 95040 EEPROM, and the cluster, right? So if one keeps the stock vin in the new EEPROM, does that not not affect immo in the .bin that contains the new VIN? Or is there no VIN info on the .bin and cluster, and it's only on the EEPROM (and not used for immo purposes)? Also, say you just flash the .bin and EEPROM from a different car, wouldn't the cluster's immo keys be different? Would you just do the VAG-com adaptation for the cluster to get it to match the new EEPROM and .bin? Just trying to get a handle on this immo stuff and how VIN relates to immo.

I don't think any of this is relevant (jibberjive) to your situation. B5's are immo-2, there is no vin stored in the eeprom. I have little experience with immo-3 (other than turning it off) but of all the cluster dumps I've seen for immo-2 clusters the vin was absent there as well.

No.
K-box B5 RS4's are immo3, right? At least that's what I've got from my reasearch (and am hoping you can confirm, considering you own one lol).

This is where I get confused. Everyone says rs4 is Immo-3, but NA cars from 2000-2001 are Immo-2. If I were going to retrofit Immo into a north american car I'd probably go Immo-2. My experience with ROW car's is very limited.
And do Immo-3 equipped cars use a seperate immobilizer box, or is it integrated into the cluster like Immo-2? I think that would be another reason to stick with 2 for NA car conversions.
