hi there, this is my first attempt to chip a car so please be patient Tongue

i've knowledges about assembly and programming, but not really on tunning lol.

just got a cable and i'm trying to flash the ecu of my friend's jetta / bora 1.8t.

the ecu of my friend says this on me7logger:

[Identification]
HWNumber          = {0261207441}
SWNumber          = {1037360647}
PartNumber        = {06A906032HP }
SWVersion         = {0001}
EngineId          = {1.8L R4/5VT     }

i'm interested to put this for do some tests and see how the car changes and what i have to change to tune another car:

http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=1272.0title=

-> Contents of ECUID data table:
   - '0261207440'         (SSECUHN)
   - '1037360646'         (SSECUSN)
   - '06A906032HN '       (VAG part number)
   - '0001'               (VAG sw number)
   - '1.8L R4/5VT     '   (engine id)

for what i see, mostly of maps have the same offset, just if you open it in hex it have some little differences in the code, my friend's jetta is a bit newer model.

so, i've 2 options:

1. copy the modified maps from the tuned file to this newer original ecu file.

2. just flash this 1 version older ecu, and see what happens, and this is where i doubt, the engines are the same and the hardware is almost the same, what will happens if i flash this file?

and what do you base on for flashing different ecu models on same cars, this will be risky?

is my first flash i dont want break my friends ecu so i'm aware about triple verify checksums before do it with multiple programs XD.

thank you and best regards!.

I recommend you to copy proper maps to your ORI file, verify checksum and write to ECU.
This is safe.
If you write hn file to hp ecu it could work or not. Also you have to disable immo before you write this hn file to hp ecu.

I prefer first option , open your stock file  and copy right maps. Also you should try with this file http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=573.0

it is quite good stuff to start.

Also you should read read and one more read, and verify  checksums - me7check very good stuff.

Why disable the immo before crossflashing a file?

i have problem in past with this....
flashed 032af file to 032cb file = immob block start , and i couldn't match immo.... try on many ways but nothing.
so since that time i wouldn't risk to crossflashing before turn off immo.

Run both files with me7check and verify they use the same bootrom.
