OK i Have been going over this since i started my ABZ 4.2 engine swap into a 1988 Pontiac fiero with a 012 manual 5 speed . the 2 Choices i have found are the 034 Motor sports chip and immobilizer that comes to a total of $700 or the Vems and that comes in at under $800  is there a cheaper way to do this can the Eprom be socketed so it could be re flashed with out soldiering it every time or could some sort of emulator be used ? the engine is stock and for now i will keep it that way but i need it to work with a standard transmission and i would like to get rid of the back O2 sensors I know that in the European S8 they had every thing i want can you tell me what ECU for a 1997 engine will work and the throttle will be run by cable thanks for any and all info you can give me

Hi Guy's and Gals I have been looking around for the euro ecu for manual transmission  but have not found any so next ? is can the me7 be programed to run a ABZ 32 valve engine i know that the me7 is drive by wire throttle and that is fine but not sure about the 40 valve to 32 valve and is the 40 valve variable valve timing ?

Try a megasquirt. Depending on your wishes a Ms2extra or MS3 (cyl sel injection, COP and knock control).

I have talked to a few others and have found that all i need is the microsquirt to run the engine as it will run a Ls2 engine and they have coil on plug and use a 60-2 trigger wheel it ends up being wasted spark and batch fired injector i just need to find out what size the stock injectors are and what tooth is TDC on the trigger wheel

Won't have ABZ 60-2 trigger?
When 136 teeth (starter wheel) and one TDC pin - the pin is 72° before TDC.
Batched fire is not nice, but possible.
Minimum a MS2extra, better MS3 with knock control.

I am not sure of what you are talking about with the 136 teeth but i am assuming the flexplate starter ring gear and not the 60-2 reluctor on the flexplate and i am assuming you are saying it is 72 degrees from the 2 missing teeth on the reluctor wheel to TDC is this right

Can you make pictures from your engine and from the engine code?
I guess you have bought the wrong one or some mixed stuff.
The ABZ has COP, like AHK, AKH etc. - for that you need/have a 60-2 trigger wheel original.
Look here the flexplate for the ABZ, you can see the 60-2 trigger wheel/ring:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130732040801?item=130732040801&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&cmd=ViewItem&hash=item1e703ca261&vxp=mtr

The older V8 PT, ABH, AEC have dual distributor and the ECM counts the start wheel/ring tooth (136 V8, 135 at I5) and with an extra pin (only for crank/start operation) 72° before TDC the ECM know the TDC.
During engine running the ECM use a hall sensor (old and "new" 32V V8) for cyl. 1 detection.

I am sorry i am confusing you with the way i am wording things so let me try again first off it is COP and yes it has the 60-2 trigger wheel and no distributors

Ok fine. Then you only have to measure the distance (in tooth = angle Wink) between the 2 missing tooth and the VR sensor position for the MS.
Front side has a TDC mark at the Poly V wheel. Smiley
You have to install a plug wiring at the COP of the first cylinder and then you can use a timing light - too check the settings when engine is running.
Sorry for confusion. Smiley
