So I just performed a flash, and it said that everything went perfectly fine.  I have the MTX plugin for tunerpro, so the checksums SHOULD have been fine.  However, now the car will not start, the throttle body is continuously clicking every second, and neither Nefmoto or VCDS will connect to the ECU.  Please help me figure out what the heck happened and what I can do to solve this issue.

FWIW I do have a galletto cable but have never used it before.  I had it handy just in case.

Now I'm able to connect for a short while only to have it lose connection with the following message:

"Starting fast init connection.
Connecting to address 0x01.
Fast init sent, sending start communication request.
Switching to KWP2000 session.
Connected
Disconnecting because no response was received for the Tester Present message.
Disconnected"

sounds like a bad flash.
try flashing a known good stock file to the ecu.
the goal is to get back to a point where VCDS will connect.

Yea that was my conclusion last night as well. Guess I get to make a trip to radio shack today for a new power supply.  I looked at the log file and even though it said 19 of 19 flashed complete, there was some connection issues going on at the end of it.

On a related note, I see that the ecu has 3 12v input pins.  Does the bench harness need to connect to all three or can I just connect to the one large one?

After reading the thread above, you have likely answered your question. Put a switch inline to pin 3 and you are good to go...
