What's going on? I'm in the market of buying a b5 S4. Just wondering which year is more tuning friendly. I've been reading that 2001.5 and up have m-box or can be flashed with Mbps. But they also don't have the F hose. I have found a nogaro blue low mileage with no mods for a good price. It's a 2000 a-box. Does it really matter for I'm going to do? I plan on doing tial 605 or 770 and attempt to self time it. But that's not until next year. What do you guys think?

Maintenance is more important than anything else.

If you find a nice, clean, well maintained S4 for a decent price, buy it.

Small stuff will add up real quick, so saving a little now can end up costing more later.

I wouldn't pay a premium for low mileage with these cars. It seems that alot of small things start going around 80-100k, so getting one at ~110k miles that has already replaced them is best IMO.

Model year doesn't matter really, but all things equal, I would pick an 01.5-02 over 00-01.

If your on a budget, buying an already built car can save you a ton of time, money, and heartache, assuming your not buying someone else's nightmare.

Ok, i was trying to look for the 1.5-02 but the guy just hit me up. I would prefer stock because i enjoy building them. The maintenance records on the vehicle is well maintained and serviced when it should be. I'm a VW tech so fixing anything that would go bad is the least of my worries. The interior on the car is spotless. It has the sport interior ftw. I'm not really worries about mileage, but this s4 is bone stock.
