Hey Guys,

I had a problem when I was trying to flash my ECU with Galletto and I wanted to let everyone know the problem I was having since it's very stupid but could help someone out, I created a new topic since I didn't know in what topic I could explain my problem.

I wasn't bench flashing, I was just flashing though the OBD port with the ECU connected to the car. I hooked the battery charger up to the battery, got the ECU to go into boot mode, previously I had Galletto runing...etc

Well, I found out that if your battery charge is higher than 15V or so Galletto will not be able to flash your ECU.

I disconnected the charger, the flash started and I kept turning the charger on when ever I saw the battery charge going lower than 12.5V.

If someone runs into problems, or has any tips maybe they can refer to this thread and the questions could be answered.

i think you'd do more bad then good with randomly connecting and disconnecting a charger.

Does the batt charger have multiple modes? like Trickle? 15amp/etc?

if so, set it on trickle and see what the volts stay at for a while in the system.

Also, if you're worried the volts are still to low, try pulling fuses and etc for items you cant turn off like sidemarkers, radio, etc.

I  already flashed cars with about 11v without problem (ME7.X)... and had problens when battery is above 14V...but it should be the tool that is a clone.

A friend of mine has an cloned MPPS (from Portugal) it locked 4 ou 5x with ME7.5.5 (A3 and Golf IV 180PS with 29F800), so I saved him with my galleto, at the end he gives me the MPPS and bought a galleto clone so.  Roll Eyes

Hi overspeed,

Could you be so kind to inform us, which version of the mpps interface was
used, and which ecunumbers he 'bricked' (ask you friend please) as i'm most
interested in that ?

I will try the mpps-interface on the workbench with benchflashcable to check it's
capabilities of doing the later ME7.5.x boxes. Via obd seems to be a lot of trouble
for most interfaces...  when doing them with a benchflashcable, it seldomly goes
wrong. Bootmode isn't needed either on most occasions. Thus no fiddling around.
I would suggest a cheap KWP2000+ box and a benchflashcable for your friend.
Use the ME7 edition-software from AMT cartech, and these boxes will have no
problems with flashing anymore.

Cheers,

PvL

I have only tested flashing between 11 and 13 volts.

It seems as though some of the cheaper versions of the flashing cables don't have all of the voltage regulation and signal conditioning circuitry that the more expensive ones do.
