Hey guys. I always admired people, who are working with car ECU and other electronics and I always wanted to try something myself Smiley. So I started to search information about chipping and reprograming. So what I want is to cihip my VW GOLF MK4 1998 with AGR 66kw engine. What you would recommend for a bigenner Smiley From what I should start? What equipment I gonna need? What software?

What can you say about this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KWP2000-Plus-CHIP-TUNING-ECU-ENGINE-TUNE-REMAP-FLASHER-FLASHING-TOOL-/221000678526?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item3374aabc7e is it good for my MK4? Or should i look for something else? What would you recommend for AUDI, VW, SKODA, SEAT chip tuning?

ps: sorry about my poor english

Thanks in advance Smiley

Better buy a hot air station... PLCC32 sockets, some AM29F010's, chip programmer, PLCC32 to DIP32 adapter Smiley

There are two 27C1001, one contains the high bytes and other the low bytes. The CPU works with 16 bit words, during the read strobe half of the DQ's come from one chip and half from the other. OLS has a special option to import such files.

Btw, I am just guessing this - I've never seen specifically an AGR ecu inside, but the year points to a MSA-15 and they were all like this.
You can open the ECU and look, but it is not OBD flashable for sure, so forget all OBD tools - only thing you need is VCDS for logging.

Hi again Smiley

I have found thease :

SOCKET : http://www.tme.eu/lt/details/plcc-32-smd/plcc-lizdai/

and

CHIP : http://www.tme.eu/lt/details/am29f010b-70jf/flash-paralelines-atmintys/spansion/#

Is it ok that socket got extra leters SMD and chip got extra B letter in the end? Thanks for reply in advance Smiley

Ps: My ecu can't be flashed because it is using EPROM chips? And all EEPROM chips are flashable? Smiley just learning, THANKS Smiley

How are you going to remove those chips if you don't even know what SMD means?  Huh

I'm serious, be careful and don't use any force or you will rip a trace off the board and damage the ECU.
