What ECU code do you have?
Let me guess - you have the speedo with the analogue time clock?

did you create your log template ? or did you try to use the preloaded

Can someone help me? I have this connection problem also. My S4 has analogue clock though and 551C ecu. I have wired new K-line straight from the ecu to OBD connector, but still most of the time it doesn't connect. Only very seldom it connects and I can log (very quickly before it loses its connection). 

I have pretty much same problem with my 2001 S3.

What i did is take out the instrument cluster and behind there is a green connector on the right side. I opened this connector (very easy)  and take a piece of wire to connect 2 wires together,  the wire that goes to pin 5 with the wire from pin 28, leave the pins like they were in the connector. I actually wired those to an outside switch so I can connect and disconnect those pins anytime without taking the cluster out.

I still loose connection when i turn ignition on.
