I'm having trouble logging my S4. I can get the logger to connect and initiate with the car off, with the ignition in the on position.
As soon as I turn the car on I get the issue in the attached picture. I was able to get it to log for maybe 20 seconds once before it gave me the same error.

What ECU code do you have?
Let me guess - you have the speedo with the analogue time clock?

The car is 2001.5 with an M box ECU, 8D0907551M.bin is the binary file I used.

And no the clock is digital.

I created a template usind ME7Info.
I had to adjust the connection speed to SLOW 0x00 on the ecu file as it wouldn't intiate a connection any other way.

Can someone help me? I have this connection problem also. My S4 has analogue clock though and 551C ecu. I have wired new K-line straight from the ecu to OBD connector, but still most of the time it doesn't connect. Only very seldom it connects and I can log (very quickly before it loses its connection).  Sad

Ok, if you want to log with 551c you must do the following:
1) Disconnect the existing K-Line from the ECU.
2) Immo OFF the ECU
3) Run K-Line directly from ECU to OBDII connector.

Now it should work OK. I recommend using FAST init that way the clocks don't even try to wake up or do stupid stuff.

I have pretty much same problem with my 2001 S3.

What i did is take out the instrument cluster and behind there is a green connector on the right side. I opened this connector (very easy)  and take a piece of wire to connect 2 wires together,  the wire that goes to pin 5 with the wire from pin 28, leave the pins like they were in the connector. I actually wired those to an outside switch so I can connect and disconnect those pins anytime without taking the cluster out.

I still loose connection when i turn ignition on.

What was the solution?

Here is a video of my attempt
