So I know someone here must have done this, I've got the 2.0 coil conversion ready to go in, but I can't see the need to have the ICM wiring spliced together. I'd like to just remove it all and run the coils right to the ecu, but I can't seem to find a diagram. Anyone BTDT?

Here is the info you seek! I helped a guy get his S4 sorted - it took about 40 emails - but we got it done. He says the butt dyno yields "fatter power" up top. I hope this helps!

What are the n164/n186 etc? I want to remove all the wiring that doesn't need to be there!

That is the ICM connector, 3 wires in - 4 wires out. Here's a picture that shows what pin goes to what pin based on connector orientation. You can wire it straight through eliminating the jumper connection pictured and save about $40 in extra parts.

Oh no. I want to cut ALL the wiring off the harness and run the coils RIGHT from the ecu. I want to remove the ICM wiring completely.

follow the wiring schematic and it shouldn't be a problem, I can't believe people pay for the 034 kit. I assembled a kit for others for under $150 and that's with the cost of the coils. Which coils are you running?

I won 5 new 07k's on ebay for 23 bucks (noone bid on 5) still in the boxes. I bought one extra (also new) 12 bucks plus shipping. I bought some coil adapters from a touarge (6 bucks each give or take, so 36 bucks) and the coil harnesses were 7 bucks a piece. The whole ordeal cost me under 120 bucks shipped.
Every time I see a good deal on NEW coils on ebay I buy them. I have 2 sets of 07k's, 2 sets of 06H's, and one set of 077's. All new in the boxes.

Good deals! I attempted a repair/upgrade when I was assured by my previous tuner that the root cause of my misfires was spark plug or coil related. http://www.vems.us/vagcopconnx4VEMS has the coil connectors in a 4 pack for $15

Bypassed the ICM harness completely, don't see a need to keep them. Took a day to wire up everything but no more misfires.
