Does anyone know if there are other Audi ECU's that are the same hardware-wise as the C5 RS6?  Possibly the ME7.1.1 ECU's from 2003+ BEL allroads? I don't have an RS6 ecu handy, so I'm not sure what chips it has internally.

I changed the word 'clone' in the title, as that can have a negative connotation.  I'm not looking to 'clone' or 'copy' a 'pro-tuned' file, but rather looking to use a non-native RS6 ecu with an RS6 binary on it. Just to clarify

Considering the RS6 is an 8 cyl and a BEL is a 6 cyl I doubt they are the same.

What information do you need from the rs6 Ecu?  I have a couple of spares and can easily open one up and take a pic or tell you what's there if that would help?

I have tested a ECU and got it to work on RS6 but it does not have EGT and N75 Controls, so you must disable EGT and N75 in software and you can run the car with a MBC  no other issues reported Smiley

Late reply, but that would be awesome if you'd be willing to snap a couple of pics and upload them in high resolution.  I'm looking to have a picture of the whole top of the board (or maybe a couple of different closeups of the board that together equal the whole board), hopefully in high enough resolution that I can zoom in on the electrical hardware. A shot of the connector pins would be welcomed as well.  Thanks!

Which ECU part number in particular did you use?

That's a very timely "late reply". Smiley

I'm also looking for a possibility of using some other ECU to replace my RS6 one.
I have RS6 with MTM ECU, but I'm now converting my car to manual transmission, so I have to get a new tune. I'd prefer to just take out the MTM unit and keep it for later if I decide to reverse the mod. But I need to know which ECUs are compatible with my car to get a correct replacement.

Thanks!

Well the thing is I don't want to break the MTM seal. Smiley

Are you just after a pic of the circuit board? I can do that really easily for you. I have 558B 002, 558D and 558F ECUs I would have to check HW numbers to see if they are different.  Let me know if I can help with something so you don't have to crack open your MTM one

Hello!

Thanks for your offer, that is much appreciated, but won't really be of any help to me. I'm not sure what jibberjive had in mind, but I was looking for a specific part numbers or a range of applications of "identical hardware". Since that is nowhere to be found, I decided "to hell with MTM"! Smiley

I already managed to read out their tune, so I can reverse the mod simply by reflashing. And there are no solid reasons to keep the MTM seal intact, apart from it being merely of sentimental value to me, so, once it gets a bit warmer (around -20C here currently, a bit too cold to work on a car outside Grin ), I will take the ECU out and can take a few pics myself at that time.

I'm also planning to convert my car to manual transmission. I've ordered almost all the mechanical bits, so it's just the software part I need to do. I know there are some who have modded their ECU to work with MT - so I started working on it as well. My software version is 366304 and I couldn't find neither xdf/ols, nor A2L/dam for it, so currently I'm trying to produce my own .ols file for 366304 by compiling everything available in the open with my own binary.

P.S. Milka, I sent you a PM on rs6.com a few days ago. Wink

A couple questions if you don't mind: can I get away with just editing maps/constants or are there some deeper modifications required (actual functions/disassembly needed etc)? I mean I'm currently trying to produce an .ols file with proper maps locations for my ECU, should I instead go try and get familiar with IDA? Smiley

It took me many months to make a tune which drives like a stock car.
Unless you want a lot of gray hair, you might want to just buy it from me.
Disassembling - strictly speaking it is not neccessary, but no idea how you are going to find all the values without.

You will probably spend a month just tuning the idle pid. I had the advantage of working on multiple cars in different climates simultaneously, which made it somewhat simpler.... this is just the tip of the iceberg. You will have issues, with rev hang, fuel cut off, stalling, bucking, cruise control, esp, abs.... shall I go on?

It's really difficult to get it to work right, and it's definitely not something you want to start learning ME7 with, as you will be very frustrated very quickly.
I know I was, and I had a fair amount of experience when I undertook this job.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to hear.  Grin
I think I will at least try tackling this on my own. Depending on available time, we'll see how far this progresses.

I know that I have a few options of buying the tune, some are local, some aren't. While we are at it, please PM me details and your price.
