how do I get a license to get my cable to show up in the select box getting a disable reason not ftdi but my cable works on vcds

Check your cable chipset in your computer device manager. Chances are it's not FTDI based, but CH301 or something similar.
No license is needed for nefmoto, you just won't have FAST flash capabilities.

No, a CH301 will not work.
You need an FT232R if you ever want to use premium licensing, or an FT232BM/BL if you don't care.
