Here is a small finished piggy back project that i created a while ago.

It will add 30hp on you vw based car by modifying the map sensor signal making the ecu raise more boost.

In the pdf you will find anything you need to create this device.

Feel free to suggest anything and share your knowledge.

haha very cool :-) I worked with Arduino before. Very nice and easy hobby platform! I will dig more into your code to see what exactly you did. Did you verify gains on the dyno?

Neat project, but piggybacks are a horrible way to increase power... Tricking the ECU is just.... wrong Tongue

Not always, not if it works as it should. Some very big companies are "tricking" ECUs, including Brabus and Carlsson. These are two most respected tuning companies in the world.

Just because big companies do it doesn't mean it's the right way.  The right way is to modify the ECU end of story.  Everything else is just a compromise.

This was a way to make demo to our clients Smiley I thought it would be helpfull for anyone that does not need much power.
Anyway in the pdf the gains are described and also the values that are inside.With the algo we made never had any problems and we tested that on cars for over a year...

Bullshit. Carlsson was a full blown ECU (but still a piggyback) that went in between harness and stock ECU. It took care of EVERYTHING and passed modified signals back to ECU. It even communicated with automatic gearbox over CAN. I do not see anything wrong with piggy back as long as they are set up properly. What IS the difference if everything works 100% properly? We are all cheating for more power and pushing components to the limit. The only right way is leaving the car stock.

I built it once. Unfortunately it does not work as expected. I have tested it at a 2.0TSI but you notice no more performance. Maybe someone has a hint what I can try?

Running the Boostbox without mistakes and jerk, but no extra power.

Do I have to adjust possibly the values ​​differently, for the 2.0TSI?

It will not work if filling is controlled by HFM.
Then charge pressure is only used to check HFM flow.

But i dont know if 2.0TSI is doing it that way.

i did not test on 2.0l tsi.
When i was developing that i had a 2.0l tfsi med9 and and a 1.8 tfsi med17 in my disposal. i tested on those and was working fine.

Never tested on med17 2.0l tsi but it should at least add some torque if you did it correctly.

The pdf is clear on that...you can not do a lot with the signal of the map sensor.Just fake the signal up to a certain point.
