Hi guys,

I have for the second time now tried to fit VDO clocks from a Bora sport to a mk4 golf petrol turbo and VCDS will not allow the adaption.

Both SKC codes are known, both are correct, on adapting the second field says not ok. There are no known faults. I am using genuine VCDS, Smok, vag commander 1.4 china

I cannot connect to the ecu to read the eeprom

Can Somebody guide me through (if its possible) how to modify the relevant data on the VDO eeprom so that the clocks will plug and play, ie edit the vin/immo id/skc and anything else.

Id also be happy for a simple bin to write, but would prefer somebody to help me do it myself.

I assume the ecu is unreadable due to the remaps on both cars, it there a way to check and fix this?

I have attached the new clocks eeprom, original clocks eeprom, and a vcds scan with original clocks in.

Thanks in advance. tom.

did you recode canbus module? even if its to same coding, you must just open te module and save the coding again. rosstech mentions this in their cluster swap info page.

Yes I did recode ch 19 to same coding, and cleared all faults before logging in and adapting. Last time this happened rosstech blamed the replacement clocks.
This time I was unable to read the ecu eeprom with any tool so im not convinced the clock is the issue.

How do you adapt the tacho / keys exactly ?

Pin from original cluster = 08074, pin from new cluster = 01485

With new tacho read ( 17-Instruments ) measeringblocks 022 - 023 and 024 and post screenshot here please.

Hi mk2 vrt.

I logged onto the cluster ch17 with the pin, adaption ch050 entered ecu pin test  and field2 was system not ok.

Unfortunately im not with the car and cant screen shot but there was no lockout timers and all relevant fields had the correct values to suggest coding would be fine.

I have completed several cluster swaps prior to this one and was pretty confident it would work.

Hello,

Oke, but better look at groep 022 - 023 and be sure the locktimes are 0 in 024.

The key what you use is original from that car ? ( Married with ecu )

Immo blocks copy from 2 vdo tacho's is no problem, i take a look at your rb8 tacho..

You first login with the code from the new tacho ? Then 10-adaptation, ch 50 > Old pin, than ignition off, on, 17-instruments, login : old pin, 10-adaptation, ch 21, .. new keys > test > save..Copy softcoding and recode the gateway.

Regards,

Stefan

Yes when I follow that instruction and try logging in to key matching after, using the old pin as you should be married now, login session drops and it allows to log on with clusters original pin, not the cars pin as it should.
