I have a 2005 1.8t amb cvt i read the ecu file nef moto via a genuine rosstech cable in dumb mode i had to use 38400 baud and 29f800bb it read ok and then i went to start the car it didnt run i then replaced my file back onto the ecu and it still wouldnt run i got a improper decode DTC and the only way i can get it to run is if i turn ignition on and use vcds to clear the codes then it will run but only once
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance

Deathcode? DTC16985? Post the specific DTC

Does it run as in you can drive it? or that it starts briefly and dies?

When i clear the codes via nef p0112 shows up all the time then i can start the car but after i shut down i scan codes and get nothing. I then try to start and it wont start and gives me 3 codes p0597 unknown dtc. P0112 decoding not licensed. And p0602 decoding not licensed
Is this a sign i have triggered my immobilizer?

Use me7_check to check your .bin for bad checksums, if so you'll have to clear the DTC in the eeprom and write it back.. Did you make a backup of your eeprom?

This happens on the later ME7.5 sometimes. Write your file back, then disconnect, turn the key OFF for 10 seconds, then ON for 30 seconds without starting. Should be good to go after that.

Hi I have a similar problem with my 2004 1.8T AMB.  I read the ecu file ok via nefmoto (genuine rosstech cable in dumb mode, 10400 baud and 29f800bb) and verified using me7_check.  Afterwards though it would not start and I got P0602 and P0562 DTCs.  I then cleared DTCs using nefmoto and flashed the original ecu file following Ddillenger's post above which was done successfully.  But still didn't have any luck starting the car.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

Pretty sure the EEPROM will need re flashing... Sometimes only way to resolve p0602 code is to reflash EEPROM.. Nefmoto seems to do this far to often ...

Thanks littco.

I didn't backup my EEPROM before reading with nefmoto is it still possible to use ArgDub tool?

Yes, absolutely..

Either download a Virgin EEPROM and flash it on.
Or Download your EEPROM, copy the immob hex and write that to the Virgin EEPROM and change checksum..

Thanks again, I have a lot to learn...

I verified the DTC codes again this time in VCDS, I had P1681 and no longer had P0602 or P0562.  I was able to connect with the ECU and flash the ecu again this time successfully.  Car is now running fine, no DTCs!
