Hi,

With the Chinese BDM connectors they miss out the 3.3v and VF1 pins for BDM yet when trying to pull off a file missing these pins out it works.

What are these pins used for?

Thanks

I think I've just got to the same point you did!

After a lot of reading and looking at schematics, I was also wondering about the consequences of using a 10 pin header versus a 12 pin header. The chinese clones use the 10 pin header but at the cost of leaving out some signals (3.3v and VFLSx). What's the impact  Huh

So I think it's answered here on page 4.

http://cache.freescale.com/files/microcontrollers/doc/app_note/AN2000.pdf

(application note attached as well)

Due to various application requirements, there are 3 possible MPC555, MPC53x, and MPC56x BDM connector pinouts. In addition, there is a fourth option available does not use the VFLS[0:1] or FRZ signals and determines the freeze status solely on information clocked out of the MPC55x and MPC56x debug port. However, this option is not supported on all debuggers.

Thanks Basano. Excellent information.  For the purpose of simply reading and writing flash in debug mode, all mentioned pin configurations seem sufficient. I guess problems would come when attempting to use for actual debugging.
