This might be controversial, but I'm starting to see a lot of really willing people duplicating effort on this forum. Really great info is getting posted in threads that are then swamped. How can the community here maximise this great resource more efficiently?

I 100% agree with you, but I wish I knew how I could encourage people to add info to the NefMoto wiki.

I think people are scared of being wrong, and so they don't want to write something official.

{begin rant}

I found the same when I started s4wiki. Notice i'm the author for about 99.99% of the material. IMO the problem is there are a lot of knowitalls who claim they have spent thousands of hours and dollars/euros/DM learning things, but when pressed, can't put a document together to save their lives.

They're excuse is usally "OH i dont want to give it all away, it cost me so much", but when pressed, it usually turns out to be .100% bullshit and they don't nearly have the understanding they pretend to have... just a bunch of shortcuts and tricks they "learned" from some other clueless wonk who trades on "tips".

None of them have the discipline or guts to synthesize and pool their "tips" into something that makes sense, because they're too busy glass bead trading and don't understand how important sharing/exchanging information is. For them, each transaction has a cost, and that is a HUGE barrier to *truly* understanding, well, anything.

@Tony,
Perhaps add a link and an invitation to contribute in your sig?

@All
Perhaps just creating an empty tree of tuning topics in the wiki and we can then add links to posts or entire threads when they contain good information

Alternatively or additionally, a list of Bosch module names and maps could be populated with links and translated fragments of the funk* as they come up.

File uploads should be enabled for the wiki already, bottom left, "Upload File".

I will try to get external image links to show up to.

UPDATE:

File uploads for images may not have been completely enabled before, but they should be now.

Turned on $wgAllowExternalImages, but it doesn't seem to have had any effect.

PS: Thanks for adding to the wiki Matt.  Grin

UPDATE:

External image links are now working. I just needed to change the wiki tag to get it to work.

Crikey! I didn't even know there was a wiki here. Much embarrassment.

Hopefully, when I get Tony's comments back on my 'beginners' guide to ME7.5 tuning' document for the TT, then it can go in there!

Doug

PS. Nyet: I agree with you, but we'll overcome it and then this will be the best amateur tuning website (if it isn't already).

I love you Matt Danger, but in a cool guy sort of way, not in the non-cool way.  Grin

Thanks for updating wiki.

Doing what I can little by little. Don't thank me though, most of whatever goes into the Wiki is originally written by you or someone in here. I just organize and format it. Keep posting good content and I'll do what I can. I love this place.

And nye, I hope to contribute some general S4 stuff to s4wiki.

Awesome work Matt; well, I'm guessing due to you, it's a while since I read through the wiki, but it's beginning to get a bit more fleshed out.

I did a couple of minor edits (grammar, some links); I'd encourage anyone with a few minutes free to do the same.

Matt, I'm liking what you've done categorizing the forum links. Smiley
