I know the gains with ECU tuning aren't all that substantial with NA motors compared to turbo motors but what can be done to improve performance besides adding timing and getting fueling better set for higher performance?

Do you generally add more requested and specified load to get higher output?

What else?

add fuel and timing. about all you can do. Load is pretty much limited to airflow on NA cars, which you can't really add like on FI.

Don't touch KFMIRL/KFMIOP unless you're changing volumetric efficiency. It's all about timing and fuel here. Cam changeover, intake setup, timing, torque request, etc.

It's not as easy as bumping LDRXN.

I am confused , changing torque request ,should mean that Kfmirl/Kfmiop should also be changed.Then again why change Torque request to an NA ?  Huh

The older VR6 have a rather rudimentary cam switch map functions as well compared with later R32 ecu's for example. I think in terms of performance air "NA" mapping, the Schrick VGI was an aftermarket option on the 12v and on the OEM ecu there's no change-over barrel function map like on the later VR6 24V engines that came with the variable resonance inlet manifold as standard, I would assume there is some sub-maps to be added with that to get it spot on.
