Hello. I'm a newish member here. Have been doing a large amount of reading an research. I also bought and read a few of the recommended books on tuning and also bought 2 cables (KKL VAG-COM 409.1, and MPPS v13) I have also downloaded all the software off of the wiki (ecux, me7logger, and of course the nefmoto software) as well as the ftdi drivers. I seem to be having an issue though. I cannot get nefmoto to connect with either one of my cables. Nothing shows up in the drop-down menu even after I hit refresh. I'm also not exactly sure how the loggers work. I guess I'm just quite overwhelmed at this point between not being able to connect with nefmoto and not understanding how the loggers work. I'm apologize for seeming incompetent as I assure you I am not. I just need some guidance to start me off. I have winows 7 64 big OS.

Install your cable drivers, if you dont have them download them from the ftdi site.

I like these ones http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

Does the cable have to be connected to the vehicle in order to find it in the nefmoto software?

I unintalle the FTDI drivers and reinstalled them using the Setup Exe on the Link you gave me. I still do not have anything to choose from in the drop down menu in Nefmoto. When I look in device manager I see USB serial CH-340 (COM3) I tried manually installing the drivers but Windows keeps telling me that I have the most up to date driver already installed. Am I missing Something?

CH-340 is not FTDI. It is (you guessed it) CH.

Nefmoto uses an FTDI interface. You need a new cable.

You mean will not work.

The MPPS cable is also not FTDI.

He was right. CH cables work with setzi's logger, just not nef.

I never got my CH cable to work with setzi's logger :/

Then again, my CH cable doesn't seem to work with anything, including things that are supposed to work with CH.

Apologies.

Yes, the INPA software needs to be FTDI to work, so those bundled cables seem to be perfect. It's 2x the money, but mine works wonderfully. Another benefit is you have the ability to diagnose BMW's, which might come in handy-lol.
