I have some things I'd like to test on the bench rather than in the car to make things a little easier and quicker.

Neither ME7Logger or Nefmoto are working for me on the bench with an immobilizer defeated ECU.

Does anyone know how many missing pieces there are to be able to get around preconditions on the bench and be able to flash and use a high speed logger?

Well I connected an instrument cluster to it.  The missing message code for the instrument cluster goes away when connected to the ECU (Power/ground/CAN hi/lo/K-line)  But still get a preconditions not met message.  Does anyone actually know what the preconditions are?

I've seen posts about the immobilizer, about engine rpm = 0, etc.  Obviously I was thinking the instrument cluster/immo was the issue but after setting all that up on the bench there's clearly more to it.  I've disassembled a fair amount with IDA but no leads on where to look for this.  Could really use some help!

If the immobilizer off, everything should work. If it is a mk4 ecu, power pin121 and it will work.

Ah, I was only working with Pins 1-81 (the larger connector).  Haven't done anything with pins on the smaller connector.  I'll try 121 now.  Thanks so much!  -amazing how you can spend hours and not think to look into the other giant connector sitting right there...

I just bootmode everything. It's easier that way.

Hi I am having a problem with bfh ecu and it wont boot load are you saying power up pin 121 and it will boot load.Someone has cme back to me and said it is a n earth trigger for a solenoid and I don't want to damage my ecu,

above, dd is talking about a me7.5 mk4 ecu (like a 1.8t).  You need to check the wiring diagram for your ECU before sticking volts up it.

Have you looked at the threads that say you have to clip a resistor off the board on the R32 ECU before it will bootmode?

Hi Thanks for the reply I will check through the form for the resistor removal.I think I did see something about removing the 000 resisors ut I wanted to check first before jumping in just like the pin 121.I have lots of 1.8t diagrams but no r32 a bit harder to find,

I believe the car is 2001-2 h/w 0001.I will try the resistor removal and go from there.I have only got the ecu for me to understand how the software works I dont have the car,
