Hi there!

I have problems reading the flash memory from the ecu in topic. I am using an original ross-tech cable with VCP drivers, the VCP drivers making the connection session work good with minor issues with the standard ross-tech drivers. But the flash memory reading is still not possible. If i can read the log right, the read sessions cannot come through by some unsupported security access. I have also noticed that it using kwp2000 session in fast int. due to 1281 in slow int. with the ecu data promted, and though the ecu is an older type, should it be an early me7.

Thanks for any help that you maybe havo to solve this problem.

Ha have printed the session log in slow and fast int. with ecu memory read atempt and ecu info read.

I see similar with my 4B0906018.
Slow init works fine. I can't connect with memory layout 400 series. I can connect with memory layout 800 series, but it doesn't read properly after 63%. I should apparently get a 512k file but I get a 1024k one. All the 4B0 ones I have seen are 512k except for Rob MWPropane's TT which is a 1024.
Some have had success as per here  http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=366.0 but I don't make sense of it.

Sorry if that is not much help.

it doesnt matter , even if you read a 1024 file convert it to 512.

To make it easy import it o an already 512 ori file and Winols will chop it for you

Someone seen this bug before? Is it possible that the flash installed in the ecu is not compatible by reading from obd?

Lower your baud to 38400 AFTER connecting, try again. Security access is irrelevant.

52800 layout 800BB always worked for me. You may need to go lower if its still not reading.

I have had lots of troubles reading on these ecu's, my ori only read out via bootmode galetto. Writing works fine though (slow init). Sometimes it fails and disconnects, but if you dont touch the ignition and just reconnect it will start flashing right after it has reconnected.

Some ECu`s cant be read with nefmoto no matter what Sad  , even with other tools you have to force read or something similar to read it.

I have problems only with Audi ECu`s

I think TCSTigersClaw has right. I gave up and soldered in a socket. This was the esiest way for this ecu I beleive. The "flash" its self was produced in 93 and has memory layout 400BS or something, never seen before :/

Does it mean that i can read my 018P flash using 800BB, get 1024 file, convert it to 524 in WINOls?
and what memory layout should i use for writing? 400BB with slow init?

I just did one of these today, both read and write. Just use 38400 baud, and ignore the validation failure. Everything will be fine.

Did you read and write it using 400BB?
