Greetings from an ex weegie, who's now living outside Wick!

What brings you here? Got a project you're working on?

cheers guys,

I'm in Troon, not exactly a project at the minute, but I'm getting itchy, might start one soon. Just bought a 1992 saab 900, not picked it up yet (it's 450 miles away in port talbot), but I've no idea what's in it. It's going to be a project for pressure testing and hopefully a stupid sized turbo if everything will cope with it, if not, my credit card's going to start groaning very soon. I used to work on old a couple of  frankensaabs, saab 9-5 2.3 turbos a few years ago and they were fun.

Reason I'm on here though, is a seat leon 1.6 basic and boring car. Melted coil, fuel pump fuse and god knows what else all went at the same time, turned out the ECU was faulty, so I've bought a replacement second hand and am now going through immobilizer hell!

Wish me luck!

Catch yous later

Good luck Wink

I started tuning on the B204 Saabs... Damn fine engine & I miss my old shape 9-3.... Hope all goes well with the Seat!

lol, seat's getting set on fire soon, spent most of today trying to dump the data from the eeprom chip. tried everyting in the forums here, I might have either corrupted it or replaced the faulty ecu with a faulty ecu. Time for beer, a new day might bring new light

Are you sure your 1.6 Seat is using ME7 ECU? I do not think so...

hmmmmmm, schoolboy error on my part perhaps. magnet marelli 61600.669.08 and a BCB 1.6 16v engine. Would me7 or 95040 be physically printed on the chip? I'll have a look. Doesn't explain why vag commander can't connect either though I guess. It can connect and read the immobiliser but not the ECU

You may have just given me some food for thought, would certainly explain not being able to find it. I'm going to build a bench rig, got tons of old computer bits n bobs that'll do the trick, just need the connectors really

Open your ECU and post photos so we can tell you which chip is EEPROM so you can read it but I am not sure if you will find a way to recover PIN from that. It might be easier just to swap EEPROM from stock broken ECU to replacement one.

Only two possibilities at least.

Please zoom 2 8pin SOIC chips - one of them is EEPROM you are looking for.
