Getting Galletto 1260 into bootmode
« on: July 11, 2014, 12:38:29 AM »
Hi!
I've been reading numerous threads about getting into bootmode.
My question is how do I know when I have succeeded? Does the Galletto software say "boot mode active" somewhere?
I have an Audi A4 B5 1.8TQ -01 AWT engine with manual gearbox with the 29f800 chip. I think it's ME 7.5.
Kind regards
Anders

im not expert, but I used 2 or 3 time galletto in boot mode to read/flash with no issues. ME 7.5 are easy to enter in bootmode.
I think you have succes bootmode when you read/write with no error.
for the few time I entered in bootmode I got it the first time.

I find earthing the bootmode pin for about 6s seems to work best for me7.5.
If you are having issues with galleto, take a look at the version of windows you are running and have a look through the threads on here to see what is supported. Im blaming win7x64 for my galletto issues, but I havent actually needed it yet so havent bothered to investigate.

Thanks for your replies, but does Galletto ever say "boot mode active"?
I just want to make sure I can mend the ecu if anything goes wrong

Ok I see, but I want to know before i write
Can I use the Nefmoto software to see if I'm in bootmode?
Perhaps that one is easier to use than Galletto

If you test to see if you are in bootmode, you will have to power down the ecu, and power it up again in bootmode.

My tricks to view if im in bootmode is in relationship with my current(AMP) needle on my fully adjustable power supply.
my needle amp scale as 0-1.8A
When Im in bootmode the needle is very stable near 200mA ff I remember
When NOT in bootmode my needle fluctuate little bit.
But keep in mind, bootmode can be use to rescuing ecu's . if one time you try to flash with galletto and galletto show boot mode inactive, just retry from the beginning. you can't break anything in this procedure. just make sure you ground the good pin
