Hi guys. Im new here. I'd like to swap my ECU on a Leon Cupra. Ive already read almost all the forum but still dont understand something. I dont want IMMO OFF. The new ECU is from a Golfmk4 1.8T. I just want to understand how the immo works. I extracted the eeprom content from the Leon ECU and wrote it into the Golf ECU by ME7_95040 in bootmode. So now the Leon ECU should be cloned. But car doesnt start. With IMMO OFF file it works. Where else is IMMO strored? If the 95040 eprom contains all the info about IMMO why doesnt the car start with the Leon eprom contents? It should start. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I should do it by vagcom. please help

My guess without looking is the golf ecu is immo2 and the leon is immo3
flash the golf ecu with (leon flash) 032hn and flash the leon immo data to it and you should be all set.

How can I flash the IMMO data from Leon? the 95040 contains all the immo data as I know. Ive already done it. So it doesnt work.

If you flashed the 95040 now you need to flash your leon ".bin" the flash that holds the maps

I cant do that couse golfECU has 512kB flashrom, but the Leon ECU has 1024kB one. If I get a LeonECU will I be able to make it work by 95040 eprom cloning or not? And if i swap the flashrom in the golf ecu to 1024kB one will it work? sorry for dumb questions but I really want to understand how it works

Yeah Leon, VRS etc 1024kb ecu will work fine if you use the flash and eeprom from yours. And yes, you can make the immo work by cloning it.
For example I cloned the eeprom and flash from a Leon Cupra ECU onto a a6 1.8t ECU (see my posts for the part no) and it worked with my cluster.
Dont know if you can just swap the flash on the golf to 1024kb, I would assume there are other hardware differences between a 512kb ecu and a 1024kb ecu.

512kb ecu has a different memory chip you will need a 1024kb ecu for this to work

Ok. Thank you guys. One more question. Is it possible to make a 512kB file from a 1024kB file?
