hello everyone
I am trying to read a flash from a 2006 997 c4s with mpps v12. I connect the mpps id the ecu and successfully read but I only extract a 64kb file (I am assuming this is only the maps part of the ecu and not the whole flash) which I will attach. I then open the file using winols and it identifies 71 maps when I attempt to upload a .a2l that I found from a 2005 Carrera S (which has the same motor and I am assuming ecu) it tells me that it recognizes 5790 maps but in the next step tells me 978 couldn't be read for that offset and were deactivated. Now is my problem with my a2l file, my read from the car or something else. please guide me in the right directions I step hour upon hours gather the software and hardware to get to this point and would hate if a stupid file stops me. I will attach the file I read from the car, the a2l I am trying to use and a file that matches that a2l and opens up correctly in winols and has corresponding maps thanks sooo much

Neither. Byteshooter is good for these.

Any other alternatives to byteshooter. Is that the reason I only got 64kb read from that ecu

Hi buddy Is the a2l file I have the correct one for that ecu? Can anyone please confirm. And I can just ground pin 24 while the ecu is still in the car correct any chances of finding a pic of the correct pin to ground ?!

Is the A2L right for your file? No. Is it right for your car? Yes. Use it with the hex, and compare to your file. All the maps are there and very similar. You might best start small. A 997 isn't a great starting point for a beginner.

hello sir I am just trying to tune out post cat oxygen sensors but not completely remove them and from what I read that should only be two maps. I literally just got the full 1mb read through boot mode and uploaded it to winols but when I upload that a2l file it says it sees 5670 maps but on the next step I get a popup that it does not recognize 978 maps bc of offset( I am leaving automatic offset). How can I compare my file with the a2l file to tune just the post cat oxygen sensors thanks soo much

Just stop what you are doing. THAT A2L IS ONLY VALID FOR THAT HEX FILE. It is SIMILAR to your file, but NOT THE SAME. You have to open them both, and look for patterns! The addresses will differ.

FINALLLY! Thanks for the straight answer so i will open two winols windows open the hex with the matching a2l and the other window will be my bin and I will compared the two to find the matching maps correct?... One question the guide floating around to delete the rear oxygen sensors applies to this ecu as well correct? http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tuning#Rear_O2_SensorsAs long as I find the matching maps correct?!
