Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and am having a problem reading my vehicles scu with nefmoto software. I have the latest release of nefmoto (1.9.3.2) and am using the ebay blue FT232r chipped cable. Here is the status window log of when the software fails to read the ecu.
Validated FTDI device is in dumb mode. Disconnected Connecting... Starting slow init connection. Connecting to address 0x01. Slow init succeeded. Switching to KWP1281 session. KWP1281 connect info: 8D0907551A 2.7l V6/5VT G02 0003 Connecting to address 0x01. Slow init succeeded. Switching to KWP2000 session. Connected Disabling Windows sleep mode. Reading ECU flash memory. ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met. Negotiating communication timings. Successfully changed to new communication timings. Requesting security access. ECU reports that security access is not supported. Starting diagnostic session. Disconnecting because no response was received for the Tester Present message. Disconnected Reading ECU flash memory failed. 100% complete. Restoring Windows sleep mode.
Can someone please enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong? I have tried every single buad rate configuration you can think of, I have put a battery charger on the vehicle to have a constant power source, I have disconected the instrament cluster fuses and even removed the cluster all together. nothing seems to be working for me. any help is greatly appreciated.

Try pulling the dashfuse out and try again. I had the same messeges for a BAM TT225 and it was the dash immo

That's the same error you get on 1.8t when pin 121 is not powered up. Do you have any fault codes about Terminal 30 or ECM relay?

Well like I said , I tried pulling the dash fuses. I think they were fuse #15 and #5 if I remember correcly? That didnt work, got the same errors. I even tried with the cluster fully removed. Do you think this error message could mean it has a third party tune installed already? Or would that return a different error message? I bought the car with 175,000 miles and it had xs power downpipes (only mods I know of).
Something weird happened this morning when I tried to roll down my windows. They won't go down or up using the quick one touch method now. You have to leave your finger on the switch to roll up all the way or down. I thought that was odd after trying to only read the ecu...
Any thoughts guys? This is making me pull my hair out!

I forgot to mention that the car is a 2000 s4 6MT. It has A box ecu and should not have immobilizer. I checked the last. Digits of the cluster and they were all zero's, meaning it doesn't have immo?

Lower the baud rate to 38400 after you connect.

I have already tried lower the baud rate after connecting. I have tried every single combination of connection/read baud rate possible. I have even removed fuses 3,5, and 15 to eliminate the cluster.... nothing seems to be working.

I will give boot mode a shot. It'll have to wait till next weekend but I will post my results. I still do not know the reasoning behind why a normal read was encountering security access errors. Can anyone explain what would cause this? Software or hardware problems?

Hey! I had the same problem wich led me to this thread.
For me it was because the light swith plug was not connected. It worked fine after i connected it. Maybe give that a try.
