Say we have deleted certain output components such as n80,n112, n249, sai relay, ect and maybe some inputs too such as a rear 02 sensor(s). So technically we are left with some unused I/O. Is there a way to use these in other ways than they were intended?

Specifically, I'd like to eventually be able to use a b6 fan controller(supposedly controlled via pwm signal from ecm to fan controller, would like to verify with scope first) with an me7.1 2.7t ecm. I think the ecm hardware used to drive the n80, or really any of the solenoids, would be acceptable to deliver signal to the fan controller.

I just dont know enough about the programming side to make much sense of implementing additional functions. I am thinking it would need a small map with coolant temp and pw, and a function that monitors coolant temp(either g2, or use an unused input to add radiator outlet temp) and sends the appropriate signal based on temp to operate fans. Then other conditions that turn the fan on like a/c being on. I want to learn more about interpreting assembly code, but im only at the point where im not even sure if the assembly code my bin dump was turned into is correct.

Anyways, maybe this can be a good place to dump any info relating to this. I can across a thread about adding WM, but never seemed to get completed. http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=2283.30

You would need to disable any factory code that uses those pins and then write new code to use those pins.
