Hi,

I have a 2009 RS6 Avant (V10 TFSI) which I'm looking at "tweaking". I've downloaded the Me7_95040.exe program and cannot access the ECUs to "read" their contents and create a backup before tinkering.

I am looking to achieve a couple of things I know can be done with VAG Com but TBH if I'm going to pay for software I may as well go to a reputable engine mapper and pay them to go the whole hog. I'd like to achieve:

1) Full backup of stock ECUs in case of disaster and subsequent warranty claim.
2) Increase in Power / Torque.
3) Removal of speed limiter
4) Tweak a few annoying things such as TV whilst moving etc.

Can anyone point me in the direction of sound advice to achieve the above? I have an ELM 327 style device which is recognising the ECU and I am able to use windows software such as ScanXL pro to talk to the car.

cheers

P.S. Ideally I'd like to send the factory map to someone who would be happy to "tweak" it in return for some £££'s :-)

You have mixed up some things.

ME795040 is not for you , you probably have a MED9 ecu (TFSI)

What do you want to do with Vag com exactly ? Vag com (VCDS) doesn`t increase power it is a VAS emulator mainly for logging.

1)Full backup can be achived with either BDM (best choice) or obd2/bench read (not recommended for full backup)
2)You need a lot of reading for this
3) ok
4) these can be done via VCDS probably..

Scan xl PRO has some problems with MED9 from personal expiriense ,try VCDS (vag com) for logging.

Thanks very much for the reply!

I am indeed under the impression this car has MED9.1 having checked recently. I was only referring to VAG Com for the body control module as I believe the engine ECU won't be deciding things like TV on the move etc.  I fully understand I need to get the engine maps backed up from the ECU to look at doing enything speed / performance related..

Would you happen to know / be able to recommend an Audi specialist who has worked on these vehicles?

I wasn't aware they had any official offices in Oxford? Is this a dealer or actually MTM themselves? I wouldn't mind taking the car to them, but I'm not really looking for a one off map. I would like to be able to tinker with different settings over time and see which I prefer.

Lol cheers for that!

I'm going to pop in and see Rick @ Unicorn on my way to work on Monday. I've just done an oil / filter change early to make sure the car is tip top.... I'll report back on how I get on, but the reviews are looking mighty impressive . Wink
