I have recently bought a spare ME7.5 so as not to brick or mess my own one as i learn the mapping process

But i cant get into boot mode
My setup
Ebay Galletto 1260 with the proper english software posted here by DDlingerr
Drivers from same post

Home made bench flash rig with decent power, powering pins 3,21,62
K line on 43
Earthing these pins

I have tried earthing from a split second up to 10 secs
Could it be my drivers as when i attempt to get the ECU info on galletto it wont even read it

I have opened Nef and my cable is visible, if i hover over the box where the cable selection is i get the full rundown including that my cable supports premium features
So the cable is at least recognised
All the driver info in windows says the device is working, also i have tried the various other fdti drivers on the website suggested on the getting started guide of nefmoto

I have yet to plug this ecu into my car and see if it fires, so it could be a duff ecu, but i dont think so

Does anyone have any ideas ??
I know there are a million Galletto boot mode posts and i have read quite a few of them to try and get to the bottom of this but they all say the same thing
connect earth, power ecu, disconnect earth and hit read, i have tried various variations of this too but had no luck

Yes i could get a friend to do this for me but i REALLY want to nail this !

Thanks
Steve

Did you make sure the serial number in the software matches your cable?

Sorry forgot to add , i used nef to read the cable serial and it does match the software

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<FTDIDevicesFile Version="1.0.0.0">
  <Devices>
    <Devices>
      <Description>USB &lt;-&gt; Serial Cable</Description>
      <Flags>1</Flags>
      <ID>67330049</ID>
      <LocId>0</LocId>
      <SerialNumber>47514789</SerialNumber>
      <Type>FT_DEVICE_232R</Type>
      <Index>0</Index>
      <ChipID>0</ChipID>
    </Devices>
  </Devices>
</FTDIDevicesFile>

Also slight variation to the above pic i'm earthing the right of the circled pads to the outer silver ring which i assume is an earth. i will test this with my multimeter to check

I just want to show my process to make sure I'm doing things correctly

Galletto set to Audi vw 1.8t ME7.5.5 29F800BB (ground EPROM pin 24)

I hit second button along, Read , popup box appears with save options, select where to save and hit save

Next popup :Attention before continuing ground EEPROM pin 24 for 5 secs while powering up ecu CONTINUE?

Connect my earth (it's a switch) , press ok , count to 5 power on ECU the grt  remove earth
Then a few seconds later and get boot mode inactive

Connect pin24 to ground (or just bridge the two pads you circled). Power up ecu. Count to 5. Remove ground from pin24. Then attempt to read.

Not working yet after 12 tries one after another
Could it be that I am not removing power from ecu completely , I'm just switching off my switch which all the powers are connected to

Another 20 tries and still no joy
Could it be drivers?
If I hit the ECU info button after selecting benzine (or whatever it is) the program locks up and needs to be shut down
How can I test the driver is working ?

Next popup :Attention before continuing ground EEPROM pin 24 for 5 secs while powering up ecu CONTINUE?

Connect my earth (it's a switch) , press ok , count to 5 power on ECU the grt  remove earth
Then a few seconds later and get boot mode inactive

When you received the msg ''Attention before continuing....'' next step are:
1-make sure the ecu are power off
2-Ground pin 24
3-Power up the ECU and let the ground pin 24 about 5sec
4-remove the ground
5-Press ok in galletto
6-normally you are in bootmode

good luck!

Still no joy
Tonight I modified my harness to apply constant power to pin 62
And power to pin 121 on the smaller connector
Also i removed my earth switch and I'm using a wire to earth the pin on the chip

Still get boot mode inactive on galletto
I need to make sure the drivers are correct, if I remove the USB lead and hit read I hpget the same error saying boot mode inactive, I would expect an error like ecu not found .

How can I tell if drivers are working ?
If I plug in my other ecu that has had IMMO off and try to read the ecu info will I get a result
Will galletto read ecu info on a non IMMO off ecu ?

I am thinking of ways to test the connection to the PC
I know the harness is ok as I have tested it for continuity on every lead

What cable are you using? Only the galletto bundled cable will get a response. I would plug your ecu in, then start VCDS and test non bootmode communications.

I'm using an eBay galletto 1260 cable that came with a mini disc with the program on
I downloaded your proper English version and used that though
I have plugged it into my car and it starts and runs, albeit for a few seconds as it has immo on still
I will connect it back and read with VCDS when I get home from work later
Thanks for the help
