Hello all,

After much reading here and elsewhere, I am still at a loss. Is it possible to extract the PIN from a 2007 Audi A3 8P cluster or ECU? I have a new, never programmed cluster that I would like to install. The old cluster does still work. I would prefer to do this over OBD if possible, but am willing to disassemble the old cluster if needed (I am experienced with SMD soldering/rework and have the necessary equipment.) I have gotten Vag Commander 2.5 to connect, but not much luck in dumping the EEPROM. All I've been able to come up with are 0 byte dumps, and one that just repeats the part number and some other generic info over and over.

I'm not opposed to laying out some money to get this done, but I can't send my cluster off and be without a drivable car for days or weeks. The dealer doesn't seem keen on taking this on either. I've seen some Chinese tools that claim to be able to read the PIN, most say "up to 2007" though. I recently came across one called "VAG Key Login" that claims to read the PIN for all years A3/S3, but I'm wary.

I'd be grateful if someone could tell me if/how it is possible to retrieve the PIN or a usable EEPROM dump from this year/model.

P.S. I'll be happy to share the EEPROM from both clusters and/or ECU if I am able to get a successful dump.

Your local audi dealer will do the job online.

Thank you for the response, but I've already talked with them and they won't do it. They say they will only program an identical cluster purchased from them, which defeats the point as I have a working cluster installed now as well as a new, never programmed cluster to swap in (just trying to upgrade to the newer "facelift" cluster.) I know it's possible, but for whatever reason they think it can't be done or don't want to do it. Next closest dealer is about two hours away.
