is it possible to bench flash (or just read the flash) on a non-immo defeated ecu?

or the only way would be galleto Boot mode?

You can read the ECU even if immo is active.

Some, like mine can't be read unless paired with the cluster. That means if the ECU doesn't match it can't pair.

well because I try to read my new RN ecu (04 GLI) and nefmoto keeps disconnecting due to the immo...

Reading shouldn't be a problem, even without IMMO authorization/bypass. Did you try reading in the vehicle?

Hi,

Try KWP2000plus with a benchflash harness...  and ME7 edition
software from AMT-Cartech. Posted on this forum.

Works perfectly. 10 or 20 mins (512/1Mb flashrom), and the job is done.

Cheers,

The immobilizer just forces the ME7.1 ECU to be read in the car. If the ECU is out of the car, you need to defeat the immobilizer, or read the ECU in boot mode.

ME7.5 ecu's can be flashed on the bench, with kwp2000+ and mpps without immodefeat and no boot-mode nescessary. Tested this myselfe.

So is this a function of Nef software or the ecu? Our local shop can read/write with a bench harness using a big name tuner's cable/software regardless of the immo state I believe..Unless they are defeating it then re-writing it afterwards? I thought you couldn't read/write on the bench with Nef regardless of the immo state anyway?

If you boot strap the ECU and program in boot mode on the bench, then you can read and write anything.

If you program the ECU using the NefMoto software, which uses the OEM factory flashing protocols, then some ECUs prevent flashing when the immobilizer cannot communicate with the instrument cluster.

Is it possible to boot strap the ecu without opening the case?

Not unless you add an external switch to the ECU circuit board to allow you to ground the boot pin.

Everyone has these questions, but you are one of the few who are brave enough to ask them publicly.  Wink
