So stupid me, I made some changes to my .bin and flashed it without correcting checksum. It had errors. Car didnt start. So I try and boot it in boot mode. When I use nefmoto to try and see if it connects in boot mode it doesnt. Galleto says its not in boot mode or invalid someyhing like that. I have tried pin 24. I have also tried connecting the two leads like the switch in all the pictures flying around. So two questions one, is it possible to flash an ecu without the checksums being corrected and not be able to save it. And two my chip that im grounding pin 24 is labelled correctly but it doesnt have a white sticker on it. Is that normal. Getting frustrated with this. Thanks folks

You can flash a picture of baby jesus and bootmode can still be used for recovery.

This right here is why you should be prepared and able to get your ecu into bootmode BEFORE flashing.

Nefmoto won't help You in that point. Galletto is the right tool to use with bootmode flashing. Can You get a screen capture of the Galletto error? Have You used Galletto successfully with this ecu before?

Don't panic. This has happened to just every one of oss.
You are doing something wrong obviously.
I am using mmps for bootmode and it does not follow standard procedure on 551k box.
I need too ground pin 24, hit the charger, then let the ground off. Than put the ground on pin 24 again as I get a question on the data screen from mmps soft. When I confirm Yes, than it goes into bootmode.
Take it easy, you will get there.

I see. Haha baby Jesus.
Okay, I am doing something wrong then. The cable I am using is a new one with the good chip. I have installed drivers for it but never witnessed this cable work.

I am using nefmoto just to see if it comnects in bootmode cause I did ddillengers write up and changed in hex code galleto to use my cable. I spent like three hours trying different variations of power off ignition on battery off ignition on while grounding that pin. Grounding it to the sides of the ecu where its ground, body of the car scratched paint off and the battery ground. I always waited about 3 seconds while it powers up. I also tried the switch way with paper clip and tweezers.

Is it this sensitive? Or my cable and the ecu is in bootmode?

If you are doing it in car, ground the pin (ignition off) have someone turn the ignition on, count to 5, remove ground.

If that doesn't work, try it on the bench Smiley

I spent almost 3 days trying to put my 032cl immo2 into bootmode while in the car without luck.
Tried bench bootmode and got it on my first try. I dont even bother with in vehicle bootmode anymore.

Mistakes happen. It's all part of learning. The best advice I have is try to anticipate and be prepared for the worst. Anyone that's been doing this for any appreciable amount of time has their "oh shit" moments.

Email him again, seemed fairly friendly when I talked to him.

I sent him another email. Bench flashing is going no where. Im getting 11.5v on my multimeter where I need it. Checked resistance to all the ground pins when power is off of course.

Using your bench rig, can you connect using VCDS or nef? (Obviously not in bootmode)
