nef wont connect either in boot or kw protocol. nef recognizes my cable is plugged in tho sends packets and fails. Galleto just keeps telling me bootmode inactive. Both have been freezing a lot more often then before. Im gunna uninstall everything and reinstall, the driver too.

Have You tried with another ecu? One that You know for sure is working. Over the years I've had three or four cheap ebay cables just stop working with no apparent reason. (Well tbh once I jammed the 2x2 connector in my UrS6 the wrong way and that killed one cable.)

I dont have another ecu. I could try and get a passats ecu. The cable is new as of a couple days ago. I gotta make moves that diagnose the problem. getting another ecu would be helpful.

I have had an issue using galletto not doing boot mode read/write on my newer laptop. It will read and write via kwp but not boot. Using my older 32 bit laptop allowed me to use boot mode.

I have never got into boot mode with either of my ecu's, galletto never works, cant even read ecu info
The only software that continually connects is MPPS , and only on an early clone version without bootmode availability
i am pretty sure i have driver or cable issues as both my ECU's have had immo off after i have failed to boot mode them

So i sympathise with you, its so frustrating, i have spent many a long night/morning trying to get into boot, even after 2 pc changes !!

I never managed to get galletto working on my 64bit laptop, seems to work ok on my 32bit one. What you get for buying crappy clone tools. Does mpps work on 64bit windows?

Yeah my laptop is xp Smiley so im not worried about that, im going to look for a new laptop soon tho. I have spend so long trying weird different things, im close to throwing in the towel. I need my car. Its been sitting way to long. Ima try one last time with a new pc and power supply if it doesnt work then there isnt much i can do.

The plugin guy for tunerpro still has not emailed me back...... So i cant even make legit changes yet.

He still has not e-mailed me back i have sent him many e-mails....not sure what to do with that

Nefmoto wont open when my cable is plugged in. It will freeze when I do get it to open and no cable is detected. Mprog gives an error FT_open-Invalid handle. My cable also doesn't like some of the usb ports on my laptop. I did write the cable with galletto's serial number. I wonder if they are connected, i am positive i did it correct.

Reading through more stuff, apparently you can brick a cable. Could i have done this?? Can the serial code be anything. At one point i did change the serial code to be 1234567.

I did get nef to work and recognize the cable again. It is extremely finicky. Nef red the serial to be 12345678 so i am coding it correctly. It is just very finicky. I have to unplug and re-install drivers about 5 times to get it to connect once and after i attempt to boot mode connect it fails of course and then if i try it again it doesnt recognize the device. It seems to not care if the cable has power or not. I might try and get yet another cable.....

Okay so i got on another computer to give this a go and everything is not finicky at all. I think windows xp can be a bitch. When i try with nef it goes back and forth between Failed to read test echo from FTDI device. Could not open FTDI device. After each attempt i have to refresh devices to get nef to see the cable again. I have pin 16 power pin 4 ground and pin 7 to the ecu on my cable. Is the cable bad??

I got a new power supply does 13.8v output. No luck all i get is Boot mode inactive and i know its lying to me. I have tried for like a week now with different drivers. Im positive the serial on my cable matches galleto. My car has not run for a month now. I really need some help. I have tried this on xp 32bit and windows 7 64bit. Several different computers. Everytime boot mode inactive. Some say i should get mpps.

Have you tried reading the eeprom off it, with argdubs tool? (assuming its compatible) Might tell you if you are successfully getting it into bootmode.

C:\Documents and Settings\ABC\Desktop>me7_95040 --comport 1 --screen
Opening COM1 ... OK
Starting Boot_mode ... FAIL. (error=0x09)
Closing COM1

I guess she doesnt want to go into boot mode. i tried giving pin 21 12v as well to no avail. tried shorting pin 24 and keeping the pads shorted. I wonder if my ecu is broke.

Try putting 12v to pin 121 as well.
