I really wish that in the future the ME7 open source tuning gets really good and complete like for the example the tuning software and knowledge for Saab trionic5, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Subaru.

I mean, the software gets so complete so you can do almost all the stuff you need in one easy to use GUI software

For me I could without a problem pay a reasonable price for a good and complete software/hardware that's let me tune and log ME7 without some restrictions.

Could we not start a kickstarter for the cause? He he.

What would you call a reasonable price though?

Yeah, that's kinda a hard question. Maybe in the price range of nistune, hondata.

Those are any way cheaper than a full standalone from Link, Vipec and more.
And on the plus side with an oem ecu is that you keep all the functions that the standard OEM ecu controls. And it's plug and play. Cheap to find an replacement ecu.

Are we really that badly off?

Nefmoto - free flashing software
me7check - free check/info tool
tunerpro - free map editer
me7logger - free logging, with visual addons

The only bit you have to buy is the checksum plugin from MTX, which is pretty well priced...

I think he was after the simplicity of it. Smiley

Not at all, turboat. I just think it could be awesome with a even easier to use GUI software, with all the functions in just one program that handles all the things you want.
I just thought about streamlining everything.

The biggest gap right now IMO is checksumming.

Can it be done manually afterwards?

It's a shame that the guy who made  trionic-suite for Saab and also started on VAGEDC/motronic-suite quit.
With a lot more development the software could be really good.
I think the source code is included when you install the software.

Has anybody with the right knowledge poked around in motronic-suites source code?
If so, what is your opinion about it?

By what? ME7Sum only supports a few ME7.1 files.

There is also the MTX tuner pro plugin.

Or, shell out a few grand for WinOLS.

Do these other brands have as many variations between software versions/revisions that ME7 VW/Audi do? Mostly talking about German vs. Japanese/American stuff. I feel like this causes a lot of difficulty. Just for the 1.8T engine how many different definition files are needed to cover all the ecu's that control basically the same hardware engine? The language barrier, and load based engine management strategy also seem to be more complicated than the Japanese stuff. One of my friends has a flash loader made by Cobb that stores the files, flashes, data logs, reads codes and is the size of a smartphone, and wasn't terribly expensive from what I remember. All the community writes/shares maps as well.

Yes. But that isn't that big of a deal, because you can cross flash the same version to almost all of the same kind of motor

This is a much bigger problem.
