a little confused
« on: September 20, 2014, 05:25:37 AM »
I need to make some timing changes to my car.
My question if change some basic tables on tuner pro.
like the kzwf map. Do I need to do a checksum check. So I don't brick my ecu.
I already know what I need to change just scare of changing the maps.
Thanks.

If you change anything, you need to fix the checksums.

Is there a reason that I keep getting checksum error. No matter what table I change and how little the changes are. tried modifying 1 table at a time on small increments and still.
Could it be a bad .xdf???

kory2000pr:
What software are you using to fix the checksums? me7check is only for verifying the file is either good, or has checksum errors, it does not fix these errors itself.
This is how I understand it, hope I get it right.
Any
change you make to a .bin file
will
cause checksum errors, no matter how large or small, in any order. This is not due to any mistake on your part, it is by design. If the bin file on your ecu became corrupted (damaged) somehow, the ecu would catch these errors in it's checksum algorithm and stop the car from running an unsafe file. If you don't correct for the differences you make when modifying your file, the ECU will think it is an unsafe file and not start. Even worse, the error might not get caught right away and leave you stuck somewhere without your laptop!
good luck
