am I going t break something opening the freaking ECU? trying to find pin 24 and be done with this crap already!

OK so After I posted I found the answer to opening.. hah.. not really funny for me but...... What about what people are using to connect to pin24? I will be doing this In Car.. Thanks

Screwdriver through a hole sounds like a very bad idea. How can You know what You are hitting with the screwdriver or if You are hitting anything at all?
I just use a piece of wire with a gator clip on the other end that I ground to the side of the ecu board every time I need it. Nothing permanent, no drilling, no soldering. Then again, I've never tried to bootmode with the ecu in the car. The way I see it, if You anyway have to dig out the ecu so that You can flip a switch, You might as well take it to a bench.

Having a push button rather than having to short the pin out with a bit of wire seems sensible if you do it a lot, it's far too easy to slip and get other pins.

Like to the engine block. If I get an error: opening port impossible.. what would that mean? let me rephrase. Itried and I think I messed up grounding it properly and I got that error message. |

The opening port error is due to the cable not matching the galletto software,

Ok, so I know I grounded it correctly. But
1: How do I even know If I am in bootmode and;
2: I will see what I can do about matching the cable up with the software.
I went through your procedure ddilenger and chaneged the serial number in the .exe to match the rosstech serial number of RT000001. I put it in a conversion table to hex. changed it in winOLS.

Absolutely. But then You need to solder the wire from the push button to the correct pin and that has it's on risks. You need a decent soldering station and a fair bit or experience for something like this. And I should know, I solder things for a living all the time (Computer & cellphone repair tech). |

Also, keep in mind that if you use a stiff wire, you can tear the pads from the board. I would say this is a terrible idea. Bootmode is very easy, and done so rarely that a switch is crazyness.
