If you are in bootmode, bootmode stuff works. If you are not, it doesnt.

I remember thinking when I was messing around trying to get galletto working, that it'd be real nice if an led came on to say when you're in bootmode

Ok, so after getting my vcds to work with galletto,I had a hard time getting the VCDS software back on and I then ordered a mpps cable and disk  . The program looks different than galleto so I am curious what you think about which one I should use.?  Mpps and SW or dl the galletto on it?

Galletto + ftdi cable for bootmode
Nefmoto + ftdi or VCDS cable in dumb mode for flashing
ME7L + ftdi or VCDS cable in dumb mode for logging
VCDS + genuine VCDS cable for VCDS

If you have ME7.1 there is no need for MPPS.

You can also use VCDS VCP drivers to use VCDS cable for Galletto but there is no point, and the VCP stuff just confuses people, especially noobs.

Thanks a lot for that NYET.  I am on ME7.1.1    Thanks again
The image below shows after I re-did bootmode and rewrote my known good Bin on with galletto and my VCDS cable (since I could ot get galletto to install on my mpps cable). I tried leaving my car on for 15 minutes to see if that worked or not, It did not for me. SoI will have to reinstall vcds on my vcds cable to see what they mean. Should I try to flash over a file with nefmoto at this point or m I still screwed?

You can have nef, galleto and VCDS all installed at the same time... There is also a list of fault codes around somewhere, I think I found it in the 'protocols' forum, but i could be wrong.

I always try flashing with nef first, nothing much to loose there.

Got my car started after I tried galletto last night with the 15min in on position had no luck, I just flashed over the ecu like normal with mpps. Now it is all good in the hood.
