As the title states, I have an extra 06A906032DL ECU that I am trying to flash a tuned filed to. It has been immo defeated already, supposedly has a stage 2 file on it already but the seller has gone ghost on me and I waited too long for a paypal dispute.

Anyway,
I cannot get it to accept a flash even in boot mode through Galleto. Do I need to mess with the immo eeprom before it will accept a different flash? i can always try to pull the eeprom from the ECU currently in the car and flash it to the spare ECU, as they are the same part number.

Am I on the right track here?

Is it entering bootmode?

Yes I can confirm it is entering boot mode. Everything works as it should until it begins to try writing. Always errors out. I can read it successfully in boot mode, I was able to reprogram the eeprom just now with the dump from my car. Still a no-go as far as writing a new bin. I am just trying to put an all stock setup on this one as a backup.

I even threw on your immo off file to try that route. So far no-go.
I can read and write to my other ECU no problems. This one is just a pain.

Hm... I've always thought bootmode bypassed eeprom.

What tool do you use for writing in boot? I think 29F800 is dead, I had the same issue. Read via OBD, boot and desoldering, but couldnt write it.

It has the 95040 chip with the correct dump for the ECU part number.

It's possible that the flash chip is defective as it says erase is successful but the info still exists on it.

If you is still able to read the file, it means erasing was not sucessful. Flash chip costs about 5-10$

language barrier Tongue when I said eeprom I was refering to flash chip, on mine I had an Intel PA28F800(previous owner installed it) that do not allow me to write. I then replaced it with a AM29F800BB-70SF and problem solved

I got an entire roll of bad ones. I used like 5 before it clicked that all the repairs I made that didn't work were using these chips. What a pain in the ass that was.

I'm tracking what you guys are saying now. I have the 800bb chip. Might look into replacing it and trying to flash it again.

Just a little update. I have confirmed the problem has to lie in the flash chip. As mentioned by someone earlier, it doesn't erase, indicating a read/write problem.
I scrounged up another ECU out of a NB that worked great after I defeated the immo. Same procedures used on both to get into boot mode.

Send it to me if you like, I'll swap the chip for you. Just pay shipping.

So it seems that the ECU that won't take the flash has the flash chip on a standoff board. It is also considerably smaller than the 800bb chip on the ECU that did accept the flash. I forgot to take photos, but it has the same numbering. Maybe the standoff board has a security element built into it not allowing me to flash it?
If I remember i'll take a pic of it later and post it up, maybe somebody has seen something like that before.

As promised, here is a pic of the flash chip on a standoff board.
